Fire TV Stick 4K Max streaming device
Once I got the new fire tv stick 4k max, everything was good until I wanted to expand the storage ; it would not recognizes the SSd and would not show the usb after I fallowed all instruction that would help me to add storage to it. Amazon will you make the fire tv sticks more compatible with any external hard drive so there will not be a problem finding one that would work? Other than that the fire tv stick 4k max is great ! its just the storage problem: O ps the delete catch is also a problem on the fire tv stick 4k max as well it will never delete the catch files, they will return back as soon as they are deleted.

Much Better
I recently was experiencing a difference in how my TV was showing content. Sometimes it was clear or not running at all. I changed my internet service to faster speeds but my fire stick prior to the one I purchased was not meeting up to the demand. Pop, this new fire stick in and OMG, I was in business! Everything I needed came together instantly. Clarity, clean, fast, sharp, functionality all the way around. I am so happy. Much Better and Kudos to my new Fire stick!!!

Nice upgrade.
I had a 2nd generation device that I replaced with this one. It did the trick since the older 2nd gen Firestick apps don’t even load sometimes, this one is faster and good quality picture in my older LG TV. I like the small size and plugs directly into your HDMI TV input. The voice remote is a very handy thing. you don’t have to type just call out what you want to see and it will display for you. I will definitely recommend this product.

Glad I Got It… So Far
I have had Roku for a year now: the Express, Express 4K and Ultra. I had the same issue with the Express 4K and Ultra. About an hour after I started watching it in the morning, the audio would go out of sync with the video. I would have to restart the application to solve the issue. I finally got fed up with that so I gave the Fire Stick a shot. Am I glad I did.I can’t speak to the voice controls since I just don’t use them. However, the remote works great. The controls are more responsive than the Roku. I would find that I would experience a lot of buffering while I am fast forwarding more on the Roku than on the Fire Stick. Most importantly, I do not have that annoying voice syncing issue, I only added “So Far” at the end of my headline because I’ve only been using it for a few days. All in all, I can say give it a chance.

Better performance than outdated models
Our streaming experience with the 2017 model was so poor. We thought maybe it was our internet provider but before switching providers we thought we should try upgrading to a new firestick. As with anything technology can get outdated. While watching TV with our old firestick, the shows would freeze up for long periods of time. We would reset our router and firestick and it would remain a terrible connection. Our old firestick would get very hot. We upgraded to this model and streaming has been 200% improved. For now no change in our Internet provider is needed. Definitely recommend upgrading when your firestick gets a few to several years old.

Major upgrade over Blu-ray
My tv isn’t a smart tv so I had to either buy a fire stick (or other compatible device) or Blu-ray player to stream. Watching Netflix is all I really want to do. I figured my DVD player was outdated so I’d just upgrade w the added luxury of using it to steam. I’ve never gotten great wifi in my room even when the router was on the other side of the wall in the next room. No matter what I do or how many times the guy comes out and says it should work fine, it doesn’t. After using the Blu-ray to stream for the past 18 months, I’ve had it. It’s slower than slow. I know my wifi is weak but it still takes way too much time and freezes. I decided I’d try the other route and buy another fire stick since the one I use w my projector to stream outdoors works great w no issues. I upgraded to the fire stick 4k max this time even though I know I won’t use all the bells & whistles since I’m technologically illiterate. It was on sale for only $5 more. It took me 1 minute to hook it up to my tv using the included extender since another cable was too close to the hdmi port to plug in both at the same time. I’m really glad they included one in the box. That was a big time saver. The remote comes w batteries so you’re ready to go out of the box. It was super easy to set up after trying 4-6 times to make a connection w my weak wifi. I was about to give up in a huff but it finally connected w enough strength for the fire stick and Netflix app to load. I’m sure if you have even the most basic strength wifi, you’ll have no issues. It takes a few minutes and the screen will walk you through all the steps or give you the option to bypass those you don’t want to bother with at the moment. You’ll need your email address and wifi code. It’s super easy but comes w a manual as well. I haven’t tried the Alexa features but I will update after I do so very soon. This time using the fire stick instead of Blu-ray, I was able to not only watch Netflix w ease but also have the luxury of instant response from the remote. Using the Blu-ray player, the lag was 4-6 seconds. I’d suggest to anyone who uses Blu-ray who has the same problem to try using a fire stick instead. It’s way faster! You can stream an endless amount of movies and tv, even live tv like sports, to just about anything w w screen and hdmi port. One last thing..:I did recently learn after researching that they don’t last forever. Periodically, check for updates to help them work better and last longer. The info varies but the average time they seem to last is 2-5 years before needing replacing.

Get FireStick, not ROKU
I had purchased a ROKU stick from Amazon. Less than six months later, the remote control stopped working. I contacted Asurion, who sent me to the ROKU manufacturer. They told me to go to Amazon.Amazon helped me and I got the Amazon FireStick. It works much better than the ROKU stick. It even provides a better. The FireStick remote allows you to call up programs buy pressing a button and speaking. I love this product. Purchase the Amazon FireStick, no t any of the shoddy ROKU products.

Streaming Experience elevated with the Fire TV Stick 4K Max
Switched from Roku to Firetv and loving itThings I see when compared to my Roku- Performance – Improved Wi-Fi connectivity, smoother streaming and faster load times- Availability of Apps on both the devices are similar – popular platforms like Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime Video, Youtube etc. are available- Voice Recognition – Alexa is awesom- Integration with other Smart Home Devices – Again Alexa wins and having Alexa built in Firetv interface enhances the experience- Custom Apps Compatibility – Found Firetv more compatible leveraging Developer Mode when compared to RokuOne downside of Firetv I found is it needs more restarts/rests compared to Roku, may be because of number of devices it is integrated with

4K Fire Stick
The install is simple….follow the instructions and when you connect it to your TV, the stick will automatically update software. Then it will walk you through an easy set up. After installing the software, the remote control for this hardware is simple to use and moves easily among the menus. I have a 2013 60 in Samsung, which can’t be upgraded any further. Installing this stick affords access to more programs, networks, and movies.

great way to update a sluggish, old, smart tv
I purchased this because it was on sale, had wifi 6e, and even though I was hooking it up to a non 4k tv, the top of the line firestick was only $5 more. I hooked it up to see if I could improve the performance of my 8-10 year old led tcl roku tv. Before, the tv was so sluggish it was damn near unusable. I don’t know if it is the 6e wifi or the updated electronics in the firestick, but the tv now flies. No latency between the remote and the tv response. It is like a new TV. And for those of you that are using older firesticks, it is soo much faster. I had an old firestick that I never used on the tv because it seemed like a hassle for the sluggish response I got. The new firestick flies. Amazon also has a trade-in program on old Amazon echo & firestick devices. It won’t save the planet, but every little bit helps.

PSA: INSTALL ALL YOUR APPS RIGHT AWAY!
PSA TLDR: Make sure you install ALL apps you want on the stick right away!!!I only installed Hulu, ESPN, Disney+, and Sling. Everything was fine. Until I decided I wanted to install another app a few weeks later. Full storage. What?!? I barely put anything on it…In less than a month, the stick filled up so much storage space (I’m assuming ads, movie/tv trailers) that I couldn’t install crunchyroll. Not enough room for 5 whole streaming apps (132MB being the largest) that did not come native to the stick.Only way to fix was toA: Uninstall what apps I had to make room (which I originally did. Also used ES at this time to check/clear anything in storage i could. You cant. Its inaccessible)B: Factory reset the device.I was hoping it would work and sure enough it did. Factory resetting the device gave me 4.13 GB free space. So now I’m going to install all the apps I need AND a few apps I do not want just in case I need the space down the road I can uninstall those apps.To amazon: Could you please look into a button in your system menu that would free up that inaccessible space… or some other option other than having to Factory reset the device? Thanks!

Fire TV OS still very laggy in 2023
I tried almost every TV HDMI device for years now from original Fire TV to Nvidia Shields, Rokus, Apple TV etc. and they all have their pros and cons so there is never a perfect solution. But I do enjoy testing multiple and use different ones for different purchases. I figured I give this new Fire TV stick max since original OS was laggy as heck thinking the new version might be less bloated and faster improvements on the response times but I was wrong. Exiting apps or accidentally opening an app takes a frustrating amount of response time compared to other similar devices or OS. Since this new fire tv stick has slightly newer specs hopefully Amazon Fire TV OS may update it for improved response but I wouldn’t recommend holding out for that. But overall, I do recommend this Fire TV for people who may not be familiar with these new TV devices. It has a great library of apps that some other devices do not. And the user interface may be a bit bloated and confusing but it does a great job of consolidating media from multiple video subscription sources (Ex. Netflix, prime video, hbo, nba, etc). So new users may find it easier to search for their movies and shows instead of digging through which apps they need to view etc.Pros:- Searching movies/TV shows does good job of consolidating for less experienced users.- Easy to install without needing HDMI dongles, long USB cord included.- Dolby Vision hit or miss (depending on the streaming app).- Has NBA streaming app/NBA TV (many TV OS/devices don’t support NBA app… which was primary reason for me to purchase this one)- Many free/trial subscriptions included for new users to try out.- Very nice simple remote and depending on your TV, u can control your TV using fire remote (ex. Turning on tv, volume.- Also depending on your TV, you may control the fire tv itself using your tv remote if supported and setup properly. (I have LG C2).- Price is very good for this device with these features and competitive with Roku.- Plasticky remote but I like it much better than Roku remote.Cons:- Still bloated Fire TV OS.- Very slow response time open/closing apps, typing keyboard, navigation slower clicks than other similar devices.- Limited options to customize home menu- Dolby Vision hit or miss. I played around with high dynamic range Auto/on/off fire tv settings and tested on almost all streaming apps that support Dolby Vision and my TV settings and hard to explain but basically you’re going to have manually set your fire tv dynamic range settings along with your tv settings because the OS/streaming apps gets confused when juggling SDR vs HDR content with my LG C2 TV. Apple TV and my LG TV webOs does a much better job of detecting correctly thus reducing having to change settings all the time when switching apps.- HDMI cec pretty laggy as well when comparing to my Roku.- Even though this fire tv max stick support Dolby Atmos, most of the streaming apps for fire tv os does not support Atmos. Some same streaming apps on my LG C2 webOs/Apple TV has Atmos working. But this is more of a developer platform complaint but worth mentioning if Dolby Atmos is a factor for your purchase.- No Ethernet unless purchase separate Ethernet dongles. This is my recommendations and hope it helps anyone below (in no particular order):- New/Casual users… Fire TV Max stick.- Power users/Dolby Vision/Atmos heavy users… Apple TV 4K Ethernet, Nvidia Shield TV pro- Users who want very simple OS navigation and responsive menu/clicks… Any current line of Rokus- Users who are happy with their TV’s built in OS but just missing few streaming apps (Ex. NBA, ESPN, Bally Sports etc.) and just need a cheap add on solution… Any current line RokusI’m ok with this Fire stick to use on my casual monitors/TVs since it has few apps I was missing on my main tv. If Amazon Fire TV OS developers update a faster OS version then I may re-edit my review/rating etc. This is a great device as gift for older family members and I think very easy to show them how to search for movies/TVs once you setup all their subscriptions. They’ll be very happy that they don’t have to dig through the apps to find something they looking to watch I promise 😀

Buggy, buggy, buggy! Intermittently stops working, software bugs, usability misses
After hours of trying to set up this product and thinking its finally working multiple times I keep encountering more product bugs. I purchased the top of the line 4K Max stick and found the following:1) Spent an hour setting up the stick, added our family’s amazon account and it downloaded the Kids’ profiles. Cool experience, Amazon Kids UI for the kids —- if it worked. Everytime I tried to swap to one of the Kids’ profiles an error message appeared saying an error occurred changing profiles and to try again later. Changing to adult profiles worked fine.Called Amazon Fire support, they didn’t have that error in their documentation, but they had me factory reset the stick which erased all the apps and settings I just finished setting up.After the reset the Kids’ profiles would open, so I spent several hours downloading various apps and authenticating each one with my cable provider – one by one so I could watch ABC, NBC, etc. Some apps were better than others and detected they were on a cable provider’s connection, where others required me to manually login, most required going to a webpage and entering a code to unlock streaming.2) The Amazon video app isn’t compatible with Amazon Kids mode. If you press the Amazon video app button on the remote while in Kids mode an error appears saying the app isn’t supported. This makes sense, kind of, since Kids mode is its own video app, but the experience here is broken.3) After I thought everything finally worked I tried to actually watch a video as my Kid’s account. Black screen, nothing! Left the kid profile and went to an adult and then back and the video started playing suddenly. Tried that same step again for another video and it wouldn’t play. Rebooted stick and video played without issue.Update: Day#2: Kids woke up and tried to watch videos. They were able to intuitively navigate the remote control, however, they woke us up saying the videos didn’t work. The Amazon Kids video black screen returned again. I was able to go back and get to an adult profile with our parental code and everything worked fine – this is a bug in the Kids app. Reboot fixed it again, but who wants to need to teach their kids to reboot their fire stick every few days?Day#3 Kids were watching videos and turned off TV. They tried to turn on TV and the screen was black. I needed to know to try to navigate to home from the black screen. This felt like a poor implementation of HDCP copy protection where it stopped playback when the TV was turned off but didn’t display a message or return gracefully to the video app.4) The video in general was horrible on my TV – just about everything had a flicker, including menus, etc. I disabled HDR and it fixed the issues.5) When exiting and returning to kids mode (including a different child’s profile) the screen will display the prior child’s screen content, go black and then end up where expected on the correct child’s profile home screen6) Performance is really bad at times when not doing anything taxing. This is especially true when trying to add applications. I tried to download several at a time in queue and one of them errored out during the install (not the download). Lots of navigation lags and freezes. This reminds me of an old cable box when they first supported on demand and apps – changing from one app to another was slow and often long load screens. Same here, except its inconsistent. It acts like the storage in the stick is low end and can’t keep up at times.7) There appears to be no system-wide way to disable the voice remote feature. A couple apps supported this feature, but those were seldom.8) The remote control feels cheap. The left/right/up/down/select buttons feel flimsy especially given how often they get used. The remote in general was smaller and lighter than expected.9) The whole apps experience is annoyingly complex. They have featured apps which they make easy to find, but then you can get the app store app to go search for other apps. The home screen feels like Amazon Video with rows of video content recommendations and upsells, but no way to customize the tiles. To get to apps you’ve installed you need to scroll over to the add app icon in the menu bar which will show installed apps. There is no option to make that the default landing screen when the home button is pressed, nor promote all apps to the home screen (or turn off all of the other video and app upsells/recommendations on the home screen10) my Fire stick has updated multiple times tonight fully. Support insists that a factory reset wouldn’t revert system updates, but yet it needed updates after the factory reset. Undesirable but understandable. But whats more odd is the stick has been “fully up to date” and then later needing updates 2-3 times since then.11) on the home screen (filled with recommendations of apps and videos) there is no filter options to only display things we own. Many video apps (such as Amazon video) have intermixed free and ads in their menus – this is more of that style of approach, except its on a hardware device which was needed to be purchased vs a software video app. Meanwhile the apps which will show content we subscribe to (ABC, NBC, etc) get pushed to another place which is obscurely navigated to via an icon in the menu bar which looks like its for adding new apps.12) Also, I’ve found that in the Kids video app there is not an easy way to ply a video from the beginning. There is a single play arrow which resumes the video from the last location. To play from the beginning we need to start playback and rewind or go into a more options menu and select play from beginning. This is in the Kids video app, which makes it far too complex for small kids. Why Amazon omitted their play from beginning icon which is present on their other platforms is unclear and an usability miss.13) There are parent profiles and Kids profiles, but the parent profiles don’t timeout if they sit idle for too long. Ideally if we forget to logout in the evening the Fire stick would have an option after x hours to return to the profile screen so the kids have access to kid safe content14) while idle, the Fire screen saver with no one logged in seems to be scenic landscapes, but when logged in to a parent profile I saw video upsells which are not always young kid appropriate (action adventure video upsells). Ex: code black ad with a photo of a guy screaming with a scary face, yellow jacket image of girl with bugged out eyes, bloody nose, bee on face, I know what you did last summer image of partly topless (but not explicit) people. The entire screen saver is a rotating advertisement when logged in vs the scenic landscapes displayed when logged out.The top banner image bar on the adult profile having a picture of a lady with a bloody nose big eyes and bumble bees on her face (ad for yellow jackets) wasn’t toddler appropriate.Although this was all while in a parent profile, I didn’t expect simply sitting at a home screen menu would be inappropriate for young kids.15) This is missing feature vs a bug, but there is not an “Input select” button on the Fire remote. So while it can volume up, power on/off a TV there is no way to change to another device without walking over to the TV or keeping another remote around. This isn’t an issue if Fire stick is the only thing plugged in to the TV, but if there is a game console plugged in, a cable box, etc being able to change inputs is more annoying because of that one button not existing on the remote. Plugging the fire stick to an Xbox HDMI input/passthrough might be a work around but that adds complexity and devalues the stick’s appeal of having all the apps on it ( most of which also exist on the Xbox)

Fixed all my problems
I had the original Fire stick. I was having synching voice problems, slow screen action(opening the app.going to home screen without pressing button. Every action was slow or wouldn’t be completed and defaulted to home screen or the app itself.). The new Fire stick ( Max) is fantastic. It corrected all my problems. Has more memory, it’s fast,. The only problem I had(I am not a tech person) was though all the apps transferred to my new stick. They all had to be resigned into with email and passcode. Then reopened. It took a while for me but I did get it all done. IT WAS DEFINITELY WORTH IT.

Nice
It’s nice. I like it. I love the fact that Alexa doesn’t come with it! Thank goodness! It’s simple to install and easy to use. Not rocket science. It’s like the roku remote basically. Just by Amazon instead. I wish it was more customizable with themes and stuff like the roku is though. It’s just so plain and grey and ugh… That’s the main thing that turns me away from it. It’s just got this super gloomy feel to it.So it’s nice and I recommend it. I’d buy it again. I have no complaints other then the lack of customization options. Besides that though, it’s a flawless and sleek system. It runs very smoothly.

Great Product
The Amazon Firestick 4K Max is a great device!3 years ago we bought the original Amazon Firestick. It was AWFUL! Three years of frustration! After an awful experience we were reluctant to buy another Amazon Firestick; but we were desperate. What a change! The Firestick 4K Max resolved all of our problems with the original firestick. We have T-Mobile Home Internet with wifi 6 support. The Firedtick 4K Max has wifi 6 support. We went from desperate frustration to being VERY happy. And the Firestick 4K Max is very fast. I just wish more of the streaming apps supported the voice commands.

24/192
I had bought this for my Hisense U8H because Amazon Music app with-in Google Tv only output 16bit/48khz from the TV. I had read review that the firestick 4k & 4kMax output full 24/192 when files available on amazon music and it did. The Max read 16bit/192 when first plugged in and displayed a new (enable HD audio) choice in its audio option settings. That enabled 24bit. Denon receiver now sees 24/192 bitstream. Can also set audio output in FireStick menu back to “PCM” (uncompressed 192/24 for 2.0/2.1) So now Hisense displays Dolby Atmos sig for audio and a new section under picture setting for Dolby Vision. very good.

This one is better than the non-4K Sticks
This one is fast moving fire stick. It is much faster than the older versions I had. However, it is almost filled again. I have about 6-7 apps I use regularly and it comes preloaded with all of its stuff that I will never use and it is almost out of storage room. We got a new one cause the old one was crashing all the time. The new one crashes when using the Apple App. which I know – competition but I don’t want to have to buy Apple TV and a Fire stick so I want the Apple app to not crash on the Fire stick. It can be VERY frustrating. The rest of the apps work ok. I wish there were a way to program in the buttons at the bottom to be the apps I wanted – but again – I know they are working on subscriptions not really on making it most sleek. But it works well except for the Apple app which crashes a lot!

Should have chosen this before.
Able to use NordVPN. Works with Disney Plus in Korea. Can use Bluetooth speakers/earphones. Not limited to streams in the store. Maneuvering the apps for the different streaming sources is a learning curve. It was slow in getting set up. Needs USB plug for memory or a memory expander. I would definitely buy again. Bought it for Disney Plus.TV is better controlled with it. For what really counts it works fantastic for me.

Good Device, Impressed this Apple user
Being an all Apple household I have to say this device impressed me quite a bit. I purchased a Firestick Lite over a year ago to take with me for travel but it had a bit of lag and seemed to have network drop outs on hotel WiFi (I know hotel WiFi is less than desired but it was annoying). In December this device was on sale for over half off and I decided to try it out. This was after I had gotten the previous Firestick 4K which was a decent product but I found out it for whatever reason cannot get the latest software (but the “less capable” Firestick Lite can, baffling I know). I purchased this one and sent back the FireStick 4K as the refund on the Firestick 4K covered the cost of this one and then some.Things that impressed me (with caveats):1. Ability to use captive portal internet. Currently the tvOS on the AppleTV does not allow for this unless you go through a process to spoof the MAC address of a device on the captive portal or somehow get a hold of the internet provider’s help desk to have them add the MAC address. A “dance” I successfully completed once but by the time I was complete it was too late to watch anything. Caveat, this will be resolved with the upcoming release of tvOS 15.4 as the beta version has the ability to connect to captive portal internet in hotels.2. Ease of use – plug it into the HDMI port and power via the Micro USB port via the TV or power brick. Then sign into your Amazon account.3. Picture is really good on both 4K TVs and 1080 TVs4. Responsive when going through menus and applications – caveat, if there is enough storage available to make memory and swap cache available. (See below).5. Main screen is customizable and you are able to set your favorite applications there. Especially helpful for use by kids.6. Ability to set multiple profiles. I have two daughters and was able to add the kids profiles that they use on their Amazon Fire Kids tablets. We will not go into the annoyances with the Kids interface. Caveat related to limited storage and having to “download” applications to the Kid’s profile is counts towards the storage limit.Annoyances:1. Amount of storage is only 8GB? It’s 2022 Amazon could afford to add more storage to these devices without adding much to the cost. Even 16GB of flash storage would be better. Having to offload applications in order to make cache available to applications can properly run gets old. Yes, I understand you can attach an external device to this for giving it more storage via a hub for applications but that negates the “throw it in your backpack and go” idea I bought it for.2. Not being able to easily close down applications to make more RAM and storage available (see above). I know this device is more or less running Amazon’s version of Android, but even a quick way to shut down applications from the remote would be convenient.3. The constantly running ads in the main interface and now the ads that pop-up when using live streaming applications like DirectTV Stream. We’ve come accept commercials are annoying enough when watching broadcast TV but an ad that takes over the screen in the middle of the program is a bit too far.4. No geo-location ability. This means applications that have the ability to “know” where it is based on the IP address of the internet will automatically know which channels to load (or allow you to “spoof” your location with a VPN). If this is not present services like DirectTV Stream default to the billing zip code and you are locked to the channels for your billing zip code.5. Kid’s Profile cannot be sorted and customized in the same way the regular profile can. Unlike the AppleTV, it is not a profile set with age restrictions and purchase restrictions and it being there same interface as the adult profiles. It might be cute to have a kids interface but it’s annoying for kids who already know how to navigate the regular interface. It is the same type of profile that the tablet has and more or less shows what “Amazon thinks they would like” based on habits. Applications cannot be pinned and in addition to this they have to be re-downloaded after being added to their profile instead of just appearing on the profile. This counts towards the used storage. Amazon needs to fix this across all of their devices and do what iOS and tvOS does and have a data partition for a user with applications be available to all users so you do not have to re-download applications. The above said, I’ve deleted the kids profiles. My kids only go to the pinned applications and access their profiles continued in those applications.6. All of the privacy settings are automatically set to “allow” – location, watching history, targeted ads, application downloads etc. You have to go into every application as well as the settings for the device and the application setting on the device to turn all of this off. Unless you really “dig” the settings are kinda hidden which is the point as Amazon makes a ton of money off of selling the data provided by the device and applications to 3rd parties.7. Updates are a PITA. Update notifications are given but not for how many or what they are for. Usually it takes several attempts to check for and run all of the updates. Several times I have thought I bricked the device as it seems to hang when “installing”. Backing out of the update, restarting the device and running the scan for updates then shows the update completed and another update is showing. This is a common theme with all Android based devices. Conclusion:If you are an Apple user and looking for something that give you access to your streaming services (Disney+, Netflix, Hulu, DirectTV Stream, PBS etc) on the as well as AppleTV+ this device will do the job. If you are like me this will more than likely be your travel and secondary device that gets tossed in or stays in a bag. DO your due dillgence and turn on all of the privacy settings to “off” or “do not allow” for the FireOS and each application, this usually stops the ads during live TV streams.

This Fire TV Stick 4K Max is Amazing and it Works Great!
In the past, it was hard to get all your favorite streaming apps in one place or even impossible. You either had to buy a new smart DVD player with the streaming apps or an expensive smart TV that also has the streaming apps. Now you can buy a small TV stick that gets plugged into your Tv, and it has everything on it. So, I bought it, and I have to say that I’m thoroughly impressed with the Fire TV Stick 4K Max. This device stick and remote truly shows how far we have come with technology. I was hesitant to buy it at first because I wasn’t sure if it was worth the money, or if it would even work since there are some bad reviews about it. However, I will have to disagree with those bad reviews. I love this Fire TV Stick 4K Max because it lets me watch whatever I want from my favorite subscription apps, it’s now easier to find a movie or TV show with Alexa, the home screen display is easy to navigate, and the processor is so much faster. When I first review a product, the most important thing I look for is accuracy. Did the product come with everything included in the box? Is it accurate to the product’s description? The answer to these questions is yes. In the box, you get: Fire TV Stick 4K Max, an Alexa voice remote, HDMI extender cable for the Fire TV Stick 4K Max, USB cable with the power adapter, 2 AAA batteries, and a quick start guide. The Fire TV Stick came in a well-packaged box, and it looks exactly like the pictures on the Fire TV Stick 4K Max product detail page on Amazon. The Fire TV Stick 4K Max has all the streaming apps that were said in the product’s description, plus many more additional apps. I know some of the other reviews said that a few of the streaming apps were not working, but that was not the case for me. All the major streaming apps are on here like: Netflix, Disney +, HBO Max, Hulu, Prime Video, YouTube, plus many more. I personally like the fact that you have to manually download each streaming app because it lets you have the streaming apps you want, and not use the GBs on streaming apps you don’t use. I’ve also noticed that the processing time for each app to open is so much faster than what I used to have. In the past, it would take up to a minute for my smart DVD player to open the streaming services, and now it only takes seconds to open. Along with all the streaming apps that I wanted; the Fire Tv Stick came with other accessories. There are a bunch of other streaming apps that are available to download in the Appstore, and I didn’t even recognize some of them. You can also download some games from their Appstore too. However, I haven’t downloaded any of them, so I can’t really say if they are any good. The Fire TV Stick 4K Max also allows you to watch live news without having to switch to the cable Tv, and these are only the main accessories. Another thing I like about the Fire Tv Stick 4K Max is the layout of the home page and the remote. On the home page, there is a small bar that lets you put 6 streaming apps you want on there, so they will be faster to find. When you’re browsing on the home page, a lot of the time a trailer or video clip will pop up on the top right corner that’s about the movie or TV show. This is nice for knowing what a movie or show is all about. The remote has 4 preset buttons for Prime Video, Netflix, Disney +, and Hulu, which makes it easier to open those apps. It was also nice to see that the volume buttons work. Since, in the past, I always had to use the cable TV remote to adjust the volume; it was a hassle to have 2 different remotes to control the TV. If you’re still not convinced, then I think the cherry on top is the Alexa button that might convince you. The Alexa voice button is very convenient, and it makes streaming the different apps so effortless. It’s now easier than ever to search for your favorite movie or TV show with just your voice; you don’t have to look through each streaming app to see who has it on-demand or look it up on your phone. With the Alexa voice button, you just have to say what you want to watch, and Alexa will find it for you to watch it. The Alexa feature on the TV also works like any other Alexa device, so it also allows you to look up news events, weather forecasts, and listen to music. This is nice for people who don’t have any other Alexa device since it’s like a built-in Alexa device for your TV. Now that you have read my review, I hope I’ve made your decision on buying the Fire TV Stick 4K Max easier. Whether you are still contemplating on buying it or not, I still think this is a great product. It is a great way to watch your movies and shows with your favorite streaming apps from one place. This little TV stick is so smart, and the Alexa voice button is a very nice feature to have. So, in conclusion, I definitely recommend buying this Fire TV Stick 4K Max.

Definitely recommend getting 1 or 2 if you dont have a smart tv or want a external 4k streaming device capable of running over WiFi6 technology.

Extremely susceptable to interference!
I have an IT background, so installing this thing should have been extremely easy. However, I had issues with Wi-Fi connectivity. We had an ok signal, given that the router is a bit far from the room we use this in. However, the speeds were incredibly slow. The device would also lose connection to the remote and render the thing useless. The only thing that would work would be to disconnect the power, and it would still buffer and eventually lose the remote again. After quite a bit of troubleshooting, I determined that the signal to noise ratio was very poor. Something was interfering with it. That something turned out to be my TV. Power cables will have the same interference. Now I have solved it. The device is FARTHER away from the router now, but it is removed from the source of the interference, so it now functions as expected. Your mileage may vary, but if you have trouble with it try getting an HDMI cable and a female-female coupler so you can move the device far enough away from other electronics. Walmart was out of stock of the coupler so instead of a $5 coupler I spent $35 on a 4 way HDMI switch, but I figure I’ll use the extra functionality anyway. This product lost 1 star because of the incredible hassle required to set it up. Also, it has support for Wi-Fi v6, and my router is not v6 capable. As with any standard, the device is backward compatible. I only mention it because you may have much more success if you have a newer router, I can’t say. I wish the fire stick could let me force the choice between 2.4ghz or 5ghz because there was no interference on the 2.4ghz spectrum. I was simply not going to reconfigure my router for one device.

Alexa hears all, it plays stupid & frustrates me as I resist the monthly fee for full music use
I feel that Alexa/Amazon is anti-God because of their exclusionary practice of not having Trinity Broadcast Network TBN (as a network), of Many shows & productions it brings together many faith-based programs.I’ve not been able to see any of them recently, and I can only assume that if you worship SATAN you may not find any programming that honors Satan. In these times of our open borders, giving everyone the opportunity to look into different beliefs is critical and those that hate that opportunity are not as inclusive as they want you to believe. I want everyone to have that opportunity and Amazon/fire TVcould save many lives from suicide by having this choice of TBN network as a pre-installed Applicationon the FireStick as well as on the Fire Televisions. After All let us all be truely inclusive.

Fixed sound glitch problems we had with previous Lite version
We had constant Dolby sound glitching problems with the Fire TV Stick Lite when watching 4k shows/movies that have Dolby Vision/Sound, so we upgraded to this Fire TV Stick 4k Max, and the sound drop-outs stopped. We like almost everything about this – more control with the additional buttons such as volume, but there are a couple of issues with it.One minor issue – the volume control changes the volume very slowly. This might just be with our particular TV, or this might be an issue for others at all. Some people might even like that it adjusts the volume very slowly. The big issue – for me anyway – is that the battery cover is loose (brand new, right out of the box) and slides off easily while just trying to use the remote. You’ll find several other user reviews that have the same issue. Unfortunately for me, I didn’t open the box and start using this until after the return window. (We’ve had a few Fire TV Sticks over the years and never had that issue, so I didn’t expect to run into that). It’s extremely annoying to feel the battery cover sliding off in your palm when just using the controls.Otherwise, I would have given this 4k Max 5 stars.I would still recommend this unit, but just make sure you open the box and check the battery cover within the return period so that if you received a loose one you can exchange it.

Upgrade
I have several TVs that have both the Fire TV and Roku. I was getting very frustrated with the performance of the Fire stick in comparison to Roku. I finally made the decision to replace all three of my Fire sticks with Roku. However, just before I did I read an online review that said the Fire TV MAX was the way to go. I decided to give Fire TV one more try and ordered the Max. I am glad I did. The new stick is very responsive and performs like I always thought it should.

Love these things!
This is the fifth Fire Stick I’ve purchased, three of which are the 4K Max. The setup is very easy and pairing to my TV for control is also quick and pain free. The Alexa integration works but sometimes doesn’t always “get” what I’m asking for so I find myself asking a different way to get it to work. No problem adding all the standalone apps I normally watch so I have everything in one place. These are great for traveling, too, so we have everything we need in one place and don’t have to worry about wherever we go not having cable or some other service.

Easy for someone who’s never had one
This was my first fire stick and I set it up at home to get my apps on it and learned how to use it before our trip. We took it on vacation and loved it for our Sirius XM music app. We didn’t really watch TV on vacation but will use it with our rv as well.

Worth upgrading?
I thought the original Firestick TV 4K was a pretty good budget media player and so when I found out they were releasing a new model I couldn’t help but see if things really improved and if the benefits of the added wi-fi 6 would also play a big factor in its improvement.I conducted all my testing on the 5ghz signal about 20 feet away from my wifi 6 supported router. First, I tested basic streaming apps like netflix, hulu, and youtube. Not once did I notice a drop in quality and the connection never failed so I saw this as a good sign.I also tested some live tv on my hd home run ota device via Kodi’s plug-in and while it wasn’t a very long test things seemed to be running fine. I also tried out the new live tv feature which lets you sync live tv apps like sling tv into the main menu so you don’t have to open the app to start surfing for channels. It’s a really neat feature. It doesn’t support the hd home run app but hopefully it will at some point.Like my last test with the previous fire stick, I had to test out my personal media and the results were certainly interesting. I started with a DVD iso using the mpeg-2 codec and found that it loaded almost instantly if not in just seconds. The previous firestick had very long loading times so this was definitely a surprise. Unfortunately, blu-ray rips with the vc-1 codec still stutter with playback so you may want to consider going with the firecube tv 2nd generation but there is a workaround I’ll talk about later in the review. The big test was with Ultra Hd rips that use the H265 codec and it’s working..but not to my surprise. Kodi unfortunately was not handling playback very well even after I updated to a newer version that released the same day I started testing. I had to use MrMC($2.99 on the app store) for playback and had no hiccups and that is surprising given this app is a fork of Kodi.I also tested on Plex and found the vc-1 transcode to h264 was working as well as the h265 which used direct play. Bear in mind that when you transcode with Plex the PC you run the server software on has to have a good CPU(at least 3ghz or above in my opinion) and additional users on Plex can contribute to playback issues so also keep this in mind.I also tried some games on the new fire stick as well. Amazon now supports RetroArch on the market place and so I took some time to see how well games were running on the emulation cores. I was only able to get one NES core to run which is messen and the firestick struggled to reach the proper frame rate on the games I tested.SNES was better. I used the latest snes9x core and found that games were running at the original frame rate and I could even use the run-ahead feature to lower the input latency. Next, I tested PSX games on the PSXRearmed core and things seemed to run well. I was able to do some enhancements like upscaling to what I believe was 480p and even did overclocking but found that it couldn’t push certain games to run at a consistent 60fps. It was really too much to expect from the CPU and I’m surprised it didn’t tank the performance when I tried. Finally I tested a Dreamcast game using the Flycast emulator and from the initial test I knew 3d accelerated games that ran at 60fps were just not going to make it lol…so I gave up.So is the Firestick TV 4k Max worth the upgrade? To be honest, I’m not quite convinced it is. I tried using the original Firestick TV 4k before the max arrived and was shocked to find out that it ran the H265 codec just like the new stick! I swear it was not working before! It had been a while since I ran any personal media on the older model and so I guess improvements were made?I do think the wifi 6 feature can make a small argument for the upgrade especially if you have a house full of users streaming content but it’s hard to give a definitive yes to the upgrade.

Excellent Fire stick!
My previous fire stick was not working anymore for some reason so I decided to buy this upgrade one. It’s great for my 1080 Sony Bravia tv , which is old but still working well. I needed it to be able to access the apps Netflix, Prime, etc. it really works well.

Very fast response.
I’ve owned 2 earlier versions of the Fire stick but this one is really fast. Brings up my apps, movies and TV shows fast. Very easy to install and use.

4K Improves the video quality on even a 1080 P display
I was thinking of getting a 4K TV but now with this 4K fire stick on a four year-old 1080 P 83 inch display, it looks as clear as some of our friends 4K TVs. Also the voice integration and having the volume buttons up and down illuminates our other remote and this now is the only Remote that we use with our TVs.On a sidenote, I’m really hoping that Alexa will get some true artificial intelligence like ChatGPT, etc.… I’m thinking that Amazon will make an announcement within the next six months

Great upgrade
Coming from an older fire stick, this was a great buy. My router is on the other side of the house and I had poor quality picture and it would lose connection. This one fixed those issues. Also love that it asks for your TV brand so it can control your volume and it also controls it when using a different device like a switch

best streaming device…
I got this fire stick to replace my aging Alexa Cube. The cube was just moving too slowly. When I looked at the features, I decided the hands free option on the cube was not really used by anyone in our household, so we went with the stick. It worked perfectly right out of the box. No problems at all. I was surprised I had to redownload all the apps and sign in again. That was a pain, but not really a problem. This is easily the best streaming device out there.

Love it!
I had a Firestick that I bought in 2019. I relied on it for everything I watch from Netflix to Hulu to DirecTV Stream to Amazon Prime. But it had started to act up slowly and got worse as time went on. I even tried a factory reset and that made it completely fried. I never replace anything until its useless. Thankfully, it was early enough in the day to order a new one and get it 5 hours later. This thing is lightning fast with amazing picture quality! Plus I love the Netflix, Prime Video, and DirecTV buttons on the remote. Definitely a step up from what I had!!

Excellent but
I’ve used almost everything Roku, shield tv all generation of fire stick, apple tv. This 4k max is pretty much the best all around in my opinion. If you have a 4k tv that support Dolby vision and you want access to apps this is for you. Remote great, some people don’t like the menu I think it’s good. Android TV menus is dull in comparison. Everything with this stick even the home menu support Dolby vision ,unlike the shield tv ,which makes for great picture quality. Interface fast and responsive tested on live streaming apps which are the most demanding no issues. The fire stick could use a little better graphics processor for upscaling older content but that’s the only real downside. Tons of free apps for those that are serious about cutting the cable bill in half. It’s only competition is the shield tv which doesn’t support Dolby vision in as many apps it’s starting to show its age. The shield tv almost upscales to the point of over shoot and it’s 3x the price. Bottom line if you have a 4k tv with Dolby vision support or just love more apps go with fire stick but if you have a 1080p tv then it would probably really benefit from the shield tv upscaling technology 4.5 Stars. I bought this for my mother and will probably buy one for myself

I love mine
All I watch is Amazon Fire TV. I love this little device. It provides so many viewing options and apps. I purchased this stick for the TV in my bedroom so now Im able to stream all my shows from anywhere in the house. I canceled my cable subscription bc I never watched it, it was expensive and limited what I could watch and when.

It works.
Replaced an original firestick with it and the difference is night and day. Automatically synced with the TV so volume and power are now controlled with the firestick remote and the thing can actually play content. Push buttons and videos play. With correct speed, lipsynced sound even! What a concept. No more trying 3 times before playback was correct. The hideosity of the original kept me from trusting the new one, now I’m kicking myself for not upgrading sooner.

How did I live without this?
I recently purchased the Fire TV Stick 4K Max and I have to say, I am blown away by how amazing this streaming device is. The picture quality is absolutely stunning, with vibrant colors and crystal-clear details. The 4K Ultra HD resolution is amazing and the Dolby Vision and HDR10+ support just make it even better. The streaming is lightning-fast, with no lag or buffering. It’s so easy to navigate through the interface and find the content I want to watch. The Alexa voice remote is a game-changer, allowing me to search for shows, movies, and apps with just my voice. One of my favorite features of this streaming device is the ability to customize the home screen with my favorite apps and channels. It’s so easy to access everything I want to watch in one place. The Fire TV Stick 4K Max is incredibly easy to set up, and the user interface is intuitive and simple to use. I love that it’s compatible with so many streaming services, including Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, and more.Overall, I am extremely impressed with the Fire TV Stick 4K Max. It’s hands down the best streaming device I’ve ever used, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a high-quality, reliable streaming experience. Five stars, hands down!

Samsung TV volume glitch?
I would have given this a 5 star but loses volume for a second or two, then reconnects every so often. I have 4 Samsung smart TVs, purchase 5 firesticks, 2 were 4k for 65” and 75”. The three other TVs, 2 smart Samsung, work perfect. The two with the 4k firesticks periodically lose volume for a second or two then are fine. Found others reviews online with same issue.Have reset both sticks, changed hdmi ports checked settings and still happens. Called Samsung, both TVs are newer and tested perfectly. Was told by Samsung they do not support firesticks and to use apps. Firesticks are updated faster than Sansung updates hence the purchase. Called Amazon customer service where they offered to exchange firesticks. My thoughts are there is a hardware glitch so I’ll wait it out a bit before replacing devices and logging into all my apps. Maybe it will get resolved.

The best Fire Stick so far
I’ve had all the previous versions of Fire Sticks starting with the very first one and in my opinion the Fire Stick 4K Max is by far the best one yet. The Wi-Fi connection is very fast and I no longer have issues with occasional buffering in the middle of watching shows and movies. The picture quality is amazing!

Great product
My 6 year old smart TV was buffering quite often. My Son-In-Law suggested I get the Fire Stick. They have the Fire Stick on their smart tv and do not encounter any buffering. Since I installed it on my tv, I have not had any buffering at all. I now watch all my tv content via the Fire Stick. Very happy.

Works like a charm!
My first Fire TV Stick was very slow to select programs and stalled on the audio, so I had to restart the program several times and it made watching anything very difficult. The new one (4H) is very quick and there’s no stuttering with the audio. The programs play smoothly, making the experience much better. I am a very happy man!

Fixed our outdated Smart TV
We had an older smart TV that we watched cable on and didn’t use the rest of it much. When we quit cable because it was so expensive our smart TV, wasn’t so smart anymore. I bought this fire stick and we are streaming great with it.

Very nice product
I wish you could turn it off when you turn off the TV instead of running in the background using electricity. It need to join the Green wave and not suck up energy on the electric grid. I know you can just unplug the unit but it is difficult to do behind an entertainment center.

Efficient and Enjoyable … Remote Design is AWFUL.
The Firestick works so well that I use and enjoy it every day while sorta hating myself for buying it. It has replaced all my other streaming devices in a way that kinda makes me sick, but it’s just so darn good at what it does. Congratulations, Amazon. It adapts well to our old sound system and even to an older (pre-HD flat screen) TV. Takes some configuring, but generally recognizes components like magic.I hate the remote. I absolutely hate it and I came here to scream into the void about it.I get it, Amazon. You went with small, sleek, and “modern.” Here are the reasons old remotes were not made this way, and why it frequently leads to screaming and swearing:SIZEOld remotes were chunky for a reason. This one is tiny and smooth. It slips from unsure hands. It slides away between couch cushions. In the middle of a movie my dog jumped on the couch and it slipped into the tiniest cracks in the cushions and was nearly lost in a gap in the frame. It vanishes into the house as soon as you take your eyes off of it. Making popcorn and you set it down? It’s gone. Opened a couple of beers? Good luck. Kids are screaming? Dog is barking? You need to pause your program for any reason? Either you lost the remote and can’t pause it, or you’ve paused it and now the remote is gone. Its design is more than ableist (which I accuse it of frequently), it’s just garbage. Yes, I know there are products to compensate for this spectacular failure, but they shouldn’t be necessary. Just make a TV remote for human hands for TV purposes.THE STUPID BUTTONSSpeaking of ablism, old remotes had large buttons with raised surfaces. This design is associated with products for the elderly and disabled, but it also benefitted the able-bodied because those buttons could be found and used in the dark by anyone. Some had a light-up feature. Some glowed in the dark. Large buttons were easy to find. They took more than a slight pressure to push, and the best ones had raised designs so you knew what you were pressing without looking at it, and didn’t have to look away from the TV to hunt for them. The number of times I have pushed “Back” or “Home” instead of RWD or Pause is utterly infuriating. There’s a tiny little dot where the Home button is. Easily missed. Placed by someone who has never used a remote before. Who never thought about how much someone will hate their product every time they got to press Pause and find themselves on the home screen. I often think about what this would be like with kids. They’d be screaming. I’m already screaming. It’d be a mess.Sometimes the buttons get pressed when the remote slides away into the cushions. At least in the old days it took a little more effort to push them by accident. Now all it takes is the slightest touch.IT’S STUPIDThe whole remote is designed by people who have never used a remote before.NO TETHER – NOR PLACE TO ATTACH ONEThere’s not even a tether. At least in the old days if you were going to design a tiny terrible product you would at least have an attachable wrist tether and hope it would compensate for something. I would attach it to a larger lanyard – preferably one that glows in the dark and/or has an internal LED.THERE’S ONLY ONEJust throwing this out there: Old TVS used to come with a PAIR of remotes. If you’re going to design a remote slightly larger than the one for my old CD player (which, interestingly, was never lost and had none of these problems because it was designed by someone who knew what a remote was for), and slightly smaller than a Wii remote, at least sell the product with 2 of them. Don’t charge extra. Just sell 2. One of them can be the standard version without Alexa. I don’t care as long as a 2nd remote can theoretically be found when the first one disappears in plain sight.Screw this remote. …Now back to my show.

Very good upgrade
My normal HD firestick from 2 years ago stopped working. It was red hot and would not even boot. I got an advertisement on Amazon for a 4K max for $32, the standard HD was still $39, so I purchased it. It is amazing. Boots faster, Miles faster loading apps Better Wi-Fi speed. It worked so well I went back to purchase 2 more to replace my other 2, but the price went back up to $55 or $59? What ever it was? I wish I bought 3. They are light years better then previous versions. I highly recommend to upgrade..

Remote malfunctioning
The first set I purchased had an issue with the remote. I had to change the batteries everyday. Also pressing the prime video button on the remote would switch hdmi channel on my TV. Returned. With The second set I decided to turn off the fire stick every night thinking that the constant on situation made the remote battery drain too quickly. It has worked fine so far.

Worth the price for such a small device
I purchased the Fire TV Stick 4K Max streaming device, Wi-Fi 6, with Alexa Voice Remote to replace my old fire tv stick. This Fire TV stick rocks. I can now stream from all my favorite streaming services with out any lag in video or audio quality play back. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on one of these devices to try out. When it arrived i immediately got it setup with no hitches. I can say i am extremely satisfied with the play back on this streaming device. I was expecting to be somewhat impressed but when i started streaming and the lag was gone i can say that really impressed me. For the device to be so small and contain a quad core processor and 8 GIG’s of internal storage and the ability to stream in 4k. Nice work on this device. Also i noticed when i connect my Bluetooth speaker to this fire tv 4k the sound quality is also excellent. I am also impressed with a lot of new functionality in the menus. As an example, they have updated a lot of the WI-FI security features. Also, the ability to control the volume on my Bluetooth speaker from the remote is a nice bonus. I was unable to control my Bluetooth volume with my old fire stick. The only con i could find in this device is; I do wish they would have upgraded the USB mini power connector to USB C. That would have been the icing on the cake. But over all, i am extremely satisfied. I will be posting if the Fire TV Stick gives me trouble in the future.
