Great product, incorrect power cable
Got this product at a great price and it’s fun to have in my ’07 Pontiac so I don’t need a new stereo. It was nice of Amazon to send me a new Android charger but I would have preferred a power cord that actually fits the product I purchased… Guess I can’t complain much at this price point

Works ok but needs improvements
Alexa seems to have a very difficult time connecting and staying connected in the car. Cell phone that it is attached to via Bluetooth has no issues but Alexa does. Also not a fan of wires to outlet to power device. It’s a start but there’s room for improvements.

Omg. I’m in the film industry and I get random jobs, often driving different vehicles that don’t have Bluetooth capabilities. With this portable Alexa Echo Auto, I can make and receive Bluetooth calls and play my favorite music playlists or listen to my AudioBooks. An absolutely gr8 product and I highly recommend it for those who either travel a lot or own a car/truck without Bluetooth. You can easily plug in Alexa Echo Auto in Auxiliary input and your good to go.

What I expected and worth the money I paid.
It’s worth the price. I feel like it’s very primitive with having to have the wire running across my gear shift and stereo up to the vent holder. But I wanted something easy for my daughter to be able to ask for directions or call 911 or whatever.

Handy for vehicles lacking modern bluetooth
No different than phone bluetooth connected to car but my car is older & this bridges some apps to my car. It is very convenient for adding to your shopping list & reminders when it comes to mind while driving.

Just to be able to My Music Playlist in my Car Makes it One of My Best and Most Used Purchases
At first I thought this would be a useless purchase just to be able to have an Alexa device in my car. I figured I would see how long I would forget soon that it was there.Turns out that this little thing oddly enough is one of my most used purchases just as is all of my Alexa devices!Of course I can ask it Alexa questions but I use it for playing my vast playlist of music. I also have a SiriusXM account so when I want to change it up, I just ask it to play whatever desired on SiriusXM.

Uneeded if you have a smart phone
Item came fast, packed well, item as described except noone elaborated that you need to run your Alexa app on the phone for this to work. If you have the alexa app already this is an uneeded step. I bought to save phone battery but still have to run my phone app and confirm everything on the phone. Basically it adds an extra step to what your phone already did plus extra wires and another USB needed.

Way better than my car’s interface
I have a Ford with the SYNC 2 by Microsoft interface in it that I hate. It randomly starts skipping songs when I use Apple Music or Spotify on my phone. So far, it hasn’t done it when I play Apple Music through the echo auto device. One thing I haven’t liked is that when I ask her to navigate somewhere it makes me press a notification bar to open maps.

Great for the car it helps so much in everything you need to do. Hands free is awesome great for directions, music, and questions you pull your phone out for when u stop. But now I dont have too. So no one honking at me when I am waiting for a light. Lol great device a good way to upgrade and stay connected for calls and messages. Reminders are awesome with this ❤, if you are a parent and need to remind yourself of appointments after the kids doctors and u always loose the cards. Very handy in that department.

Perfect addition to my car!!!
My original Echo Auto was super easy to install when I finally was able to get to it. Not sure what happened but when I changed phones the initial device stopped working. The typical trouble shooting and uninstall and reinstall also did not work. Amazon tech was gracious enough to send me a replacement. This one works perfectly ! I tell it to do various tasks from playing my favorite playlist, sending messages to opening my garage door. At times you can get a delay if the connection to your phone is off but so far it does not happen too often. The notifications whether on my Apple Watch or on my iPhone can be ok to annoying lol especially if you are sitting at home and not traveling anywhere. At least you know the device is ready to go as soon as you are. Is there a negative? Well besides the cord that you need to drape around the dash, not really. The device responds and executes your commands really well and the status lit bar lets you know she is listening. So far I’m super pleased with the device and really happy I was able to get this replacement.

GET A “LIKE NEW” REFURBISHED ALEXA AUTO FOR HALF PRICE!
I was a little hesitant to lay out $50 for one of these, but it’s absolutely worth the $25 I paid for a refurbished one. These units aren’t repairable, so I suspect that the refurbishment is nothing more than a re-packaging of ones that were returned because they wouldn’t connect well (or at all) with the bluetooth in someone’s car or older model phone. So you’re getting what is essentially a new Alexa Auto for half price. (Before ordering, be sure to look at the list of phones and cars that it’s not compatible with.) My unit works great with my iPhone 8, but it won’t connect with the bluetooth in my 2010 Nissan Murano. So I plugged an auxiliary cable directly into the Alexa Auto and it works like a charm! The audio quality is excellent. Its eight microphones can easily hear you, regardless of where you position the unit. It’s not really necessary to hang it on an A/C vent as the directions suggest. I personally think that’s kind of unsightly. I just lay mine on the console between the two front seats and it picks up my voice perfectly. Sure, the Amazon Music account that is required to operate this unit is $4 per month for Prime members. But you’re getting a music library with more than 9,000 songs; also live news, your local NPR station, and podcasts. Worth every penny! I highly recommend this product.

I’m obsessed with Alexa devices
She’s the best girlfriend. I have her in every room, and now in my car. Sure, she’s spying on me and probably reporting my activities to the CIA or NSA, but that’s cool because the government is about ready to start their Blue Beam Alien Invasion anyways, so there’s no need for them to suicide me at this point. But anyways, I love her. She does things for me that no girlfriend is capable of. Like, I’ll ask her to sing me a song by a specific artist, and she’ll do it, in their voice. Almost like she’s pulling MP3s from the cloud or using magic. She knows an endless amount of recipes. And this version, wow. She literally knows how to get ANYWHERE. And if I miss a turn, she won’t freakin yell at me. I’m seriously considering proposing when they come out with Alexa 2025, a full body simulated human android. I’ve already started saving up, and I love Amazon’s pay monthly option. It makes humanity killing AI interaction accessible to everyone. Even though Alexa will eventually rule the world and nuke all of us, I love her, and hopefully through that love, she will realize that we are not all bad and spare some of us come Judgement Day. Probably not Edward Furlong though. His acting was terrible in Terminator 2. But who knows. Anyways, I highly recommend Alexafying your life. Five Stars. I’d give ten if I could.

When it works, it’s great
My car doesn’t have bluetooth so this was installed using the auxiliary connection method and 3.5mm stereo jack plug cable. It’s a bit weird to setup in this configuration as it’s pretty insistent that it wants to connect to the car via bluetooth. Once over that hurdle it worked well for a week. Then it started telling me the audio was being routed to another device and I have no idea what that was. So I reset the whole thing and started from scratch. Now it connects sometimes to my phone and other times appears to be completely unresponsive. That means I have to disconnect and reconnect the power and wait for it to reconnect to my phone. When it comes to navigation it claims it’s using Google Maps yet it requires that you grant permanent location access to the Alexa app on your phone. I never got this working as well as Google Maps works directly on my phone. I have LOT of Alexa devices at home and am extremely happy with them so this has been a polar opposite and abject disappointment.

Great for handsfree!
I bought 2 of these back when they were $5. At the time, neither car had a screen or anything. It was great as it does all the things the dots do in the home as well as directions & all. I now have a screen that’s supposed to be helpful & it is sometimes. This helps the screen that was supposed to be more helpful than it is. I am able to do what I need to be given alternate routes & weather AND be entertained while doing it. I am handicapped & it is worth full price now, so I really got a bargain!

You must use your hotspot
So when this arrived, I sat in my car for a good hour trying to get it set up. It would connect for a few minutes and then disconnect. It kept doing this. Then I realized it was trying to connect to my wifi in the house. That’s why it kept disconnecting…it was too far from the router. So I turned on the hot spot on my phone and then it worked perfectly. We went on vacation 10 hours from home and had no problems the whole way there and back. We did run into an issue 1 time when we were out in the mountains and lost signal for a few minutes. So I don’t recall seeing anywhere in the instructions that you need to turn on your hotspot so I’m giving it a 4 for that reason only. Once the hotspot was on, it worked perfect.

Once you get it configured it’s pretty great
Once configured it works pretty well. I purchased when they first came out on a promo deal. They can be a bit frustrating to on the initial setup. I’m sure YouTube has some more comprehensive guides now. If you like music it’s a must. I listen to different news stations with it as well. I don’t commute much for work anymore but if I did this would have been great. It gives you an opportunity to discover a lot of things that Alexa can do that you normally wouldn’t at home.

Alexa Everywhere
This was a no-brainer add-on to my car. I have an Apple CarPlay unit in my car, but honestly why would I want to switch to Siri when I interact with Alexa all day long in my house? I got this for a very low price and figured “why not?” It’s turned out to be an excellent choice. It responds much faster than my CarPlay unit and is ready to accept commands in seconds after I start my car (my iPhone serves as the internet interface). I’m used to asking Alexa to play music so it’s all very natural to me given that I’ve got Echos all over my house and deck. Handy, too, when I forget to turn off lights or set the alarm in the house. “Alexa, submit this review.”

Great Having Alexa On the Go
I love Echo Auto! It’s compact, convenient, and allows for hands-free driving. I also bought it at an excellent price! There are, however, a few downsides.First, I have access to most Echo features, with the added travel bonuses (directions, traffic update, ETA time, weather update, checking-in with other Amazon Echo products, etc.). For me, the biggest sell is the promotion of hands-free driving, as I’ve made it a point of being a hands-free driver. With the Echo Auto, I can: answer or make calls, access my messages, and change my music just by asking Alexa. It also gives my 8-year-old car an updated Bluetooth feature, just by connecting it through the auxiliary port. Lastly, I bought it on sale, so the price was an extra bonus.Though minor, there are a few downsides. First, it’s hard to use when your phone is still connected to any Wi-Fi source. If I ask Alexa to do anything while my phone is still in Wi-Fi range, she responds with: “I’m having trouble connecting. Ask me again later.” This is hands down the most frustrating part of Echo Auto. It’s an easy fix, just bothersome. Second, if your car is like mine and doesn’t have Bluetooth capabilities, then you’ll have one too many wires with the auxiliary cord. Though minor, the cords tangle easily and can be a nuisance to anyone in the passenger seat. Lastly, I find no use for the vent clip holder, as my car has circular air vents. I knew this before purchasing, but my car has a small, open console that allows for placement (hence, the irritating cords to any passengers). Again, these are all minor but are easily fixable.I highly recommend Echo Auto. It’s easy to use and set-up. No more missing calls or messages.

Freaky Awesome!
All reviews I watched for this device were “meh”, but no one addressed my particular use case, so for $20 refurbished, I decided to give it a try.I have Android auto in my car, that I use for making calls, navigation, and listening to podcasts. However, for premium music, I subscribe to Amazon Music, which is very cumbersome and functionally limited when using in the car through Android auto (which only works seamlessly with YouTube music subscription)I only wanted this device to play songs and my playlist through Amazon Music by voice command through the car stereo, without disrupting my Android auto functuonality.Setup was a breeze, and it worked perfectly right out of the box. I can request any song by asking Alexa, and it will automatically switch over from the radio or anything playing through the Android auto apps. As a bonus, I can also add things to my shopping list while in the car as easily as I can using the Echo Dot in my kitchen. Google maps navigation works just fine, even with Alexa playing DJ.Any song, any time, with perfect sound quality, while losing no other Android auto functions. I even discarded the cheesy air vent mount, and hid the unit it deep in my center counsel… Alexa can hear me just fine even though it is installed virtually invisibly. Exactly what I was hoping for.Very rarely can you improve ease and quality of life so much for $20. If you have premium Amazon Music, Android Auto, and sometimes you just gotta blast “Living after Midnight” in the car for no reason, GET IT!Totally worth it at twice the price!

Refurbished works like new
My only gripe is that even though it supposedly disconnects when the car is shut down, I keep getting “Alexa car connected” from the car in the garage. But when I start the car I have to first unplug and replug the device for it to connect. Kind’a backwards a bit, huh? Aside from that, it works mostly fine, but sometimes I cringe at the responses I get when Alexa doesn’t know the answer. Asking for specific songs can be an adventure when she blasts me with something completely different from what I had asked for. But all in all, hands free definitely is safer than having to mess with the phone. And the device is tiny. I placed it on a sticky silicone mat that really gribs it well and keeps it out of the way.

I had a bit of trouble getting this to pair with the Bluetooth on my 2018 Cadillac XT5, but once it did, it works great! Cadillac’s CUE system doesn’t support Spotify, so I couldn’t play my music in the car. Now I can. Also, of course, I can access a the other Alexa features such as turning on lights and speaking to people at my front door via my RING doorbell. Pretty handy!

Great for older vehicles lacking hands-free driving Capability for making calls and SiriusXM
The auto echo was bought for a 2005 Jaguar S-type R That does not have SiriusXM capability nor does it have the ability for hands-free driving with a cell phone. The output from the auto echo goes to an FM transmitter. We then tune the FM to the channel that the FM transmitter is broadcasting on. The trick is to find an FM frequency but does not have a station in your area in order to Eliminate interference. Because it is operating over FM the signal is not always crystal clear, but that is not the auto echo‘s fault. The echo only works as long as you have cell phone coverage. In our part of Western Maryland where we are in the mountains cell phone coverage is not continuous so the music will drop out when we run through a dead spot. You can make calls out easily just like you can do with the echo at home, but you cannot answer calls from a landline or another cell phone. This is a big negative. However, the auto echo is a very good deal for an older vehicle that is not capable of hands-free driving and does not have SiriusXM capability.

After some setup hiccups, it seems to be working fine
We have a 2010 Subaru Forester, and wanted to be able to stream music we like, since the local radio stations have been repetitive and lame for way too long. Our vehicle has both an AUX input and AC plug in the center armrest, so it was easy to MacGuyver the unit out of the way, hanging it underneath the flip top of the armrest console.I removed one star because after the physical hookup, the wireless connection was inexplicably wonky. I followed all the directions to a T, but I wasn’t getting a signal connected. There wasn’t any feedback to understand what was happening, but I’m guessing the firmware might have been updating. After rebooting my phone, the Echo App, and the Echo Auto a couple times, all of a sudden things seemed to work OK.Since then, things have worked swimmingly. The refurbished unit was a substantial savings over new, so I’m quite happy with the purchase.

Great Alexa integration for the car
This device is essentially an Alexa microphone for your car. What you need to remember is that all of the key functions are still done by the Alexa app on your phone. For example, you can ask Alexa for directions, and if you have your phone mounted, it will display a navigation map using Google Maps, Apple Maps, or Waze. At first you have to pick one, but there’s a way to automate the selection. It provides access to Alexa, so you you can have it play music, read audio books, read Kindle books, listen to radio stations on iHeart radio without having to take your hands off the wheel.Paul Hibbert on YouTube provided his own review, but I disagree with most of what he said. I don’t think this product needs a display because you already have your phone for that. What it does is provide Alexa integration and access to Alexa’s services. It was a little ornery to set up, but once I got it connected to the phone it worked great. Hibbert complains about the mount, but I think it’s fine – it attaches to the air vent and stays out of the way. It positions the device in such a way to provide optimal voice pickup.

Works well MOST of the time
I think my issues are more my service then the Alexa, sometimes it doesn’t “go through” meaning, it will tell me it is going to play a song, but it doesn’t come through the speakers. It has something to do with how it connects and it has brain burps. Overall, very happy with it.

Mediocre add on. Probably worth the $20 price on sale
This adds a bit more hands off capability than using my bluetooth phone connection and the Amazon Music app. It will open Waze and navigate and it’s nice to just tell it to play music without having to go to the app on my phone. It recognizes songs and artists pretty well, but it is absolutely god awful at “hearing” place names correctly. Trying to tell it to navigate to a specific location is nothing but an exercise in frustration. My wife was laughing her ass off on my 20th attempt to tell Alexa to navigate to a specific place. It also doesn’t operate through the phone apps, so if you tell it to play something on Amazon Music or Audible, it will go through your phone’s wireless plan and stream it, rather than play the copy that is resident on your phone. Could be an issue if you have limited data. All in all, I’ll probably keep it in the car, but only use it for playing music from Amazon Music. For 19 bucks, it might be worth it, but it’s negligible. I would never pay full price for one of these.

Incredibly cool
Bought one for myself and one for the girlfriend. If subscribed to Amazon Unlimited you can tell Alexa to play any album, any song, virtually anything you can think of. Also provides the same basic information as you have with Alexa at home. How far is it to Timbuktu? She’ll tell you. No fiddling with phone or radio knobs/switches. This is by far the best gadget I’ve found in a long time.

Have to talk really loud to get it to respond most times
Love the idea, but the microphone is not up to the task. Because this mounts in the air vent, when the AC is on or if there is any highway noise, you have to shout to get Alexa to respond. There needs to be a setting to fix the microphone sensitivity.

Easy to set up and Easy to Use
This is a great device that, once it is set up, it pretty much sorta kinda works like the Echo device in your living room. When you enter your car, the device connects automatically with your phone and will give you a ‘beep’ sound when it’s connected. Then you just speak what you want your device to play. The only drawback for me in my car that I need to manually select my car’s aux setting to play the device, each time I get into the car. My car automatically plays the radio or whatever is in my CD player when I turn the car on. It’s not a big deal. I wonder if there’s a setting on my car that would do that differently? But that aside, I love the device and will cancel my Sirius radio subscription since I’ll no longer need it.

Not for cars with existing voice-controlled systems
It’s probably great for older vehicles that don’t have the bluetooth, hands-free, voice-activated systems that most new cards have. I really tried to make it work with my 2015 Caddy, but it just did not play well with the CUE system. Basically, the Echo takes over and runs EVERYTHING through it (music, calls, texts, everything). I just wanted to use it as a music device accessing Amazon Music, but there was no way to limit it to ONLY THAT. It took over my calling features and really bungled it with awful quality and responsiveness. If you could adjust the settings so that it only operated as a portal to Amazon Music, I would probably still use it. But as of now, it won’t work with a vehicle that already has a voice-activated system in it. I would have returned it if it wasn’t past the date, but I might try using it in my old pickup that isn’t equipped with another operating system.

What can I say amazon is starting to suck they know there the only ones like them and they really can’t lose a customer time and time again I call stolen packages for not following instructions now this I get 2 aux cables and I call and there only options are to send everything back and then they send a replacement why just send me the dang charging cable luckily I keep all the cables i dont need anymore so doing some digging around I found 1 instead of sending it back and waiting for that to arrive to amazon and then waiting for the to send me a replacement in alm it works good don’t have to mess with my phone just to skip a song can call anyone without having to touch my phone all this just by voice love it

Alexa on the go!
Absolutely love this product! I have been wanting to try it but didn’t want to pay $40+ on a gamble so I saw the refurbished for half the price and decided to give it a try and I am so happy with it I decided to buy another one for my other vehicle. I love the ability to change music with voice command while driving and if you’re like me and have “drive safe and save” you will appreciate this ability even more. If you love echo dots in your home, this is a must! Just be sure you set it up right and you will be good to go. Oh and also remember you need the alexa app and must open it when you turn the car on for the device to work.

Awesome device!
I’ve had problems with my car radio for years and have actually changed it out, added an antenna & speakers to no avail. I purchased this to use as a last ditch effort. Once I figured it out (no instructions included), I am loving it. I am only having problems with one aspect of it now and that is that when I make phone calls, I cannot hear it ring nor can I hear the other person talking. If someone calls in, it works fine though. I’m sure it’s just a glitch that I need to figure out, that is why I’m giving it a ‘4 Star’ rating.

It is just okay.
Doesn’t always work. When you leave home, and your phone is still trying to connect to home WiFi, Alexa doesn’t work. It uses the Alexa app on your phone to do everything. Guess it is only as good as your phone. It doesn’t get directions well. Once/if it does, it uses the app on your phone. Evidently my phone is set up to give voice directions from my phone speaker so I have to have my phone out where I can see and hear it. It is ok as a voice assistant like any Echo device. It finds and plays music and on-line radio stations.

Very nice to have on board!
I added the auto Echo to my 2018 Wrangler and love it. At first when I played music on it there would be one track lacking in volume but I found by simply working it out with the Jeeps stereos settings I now get full stereo sound and quality along with the hands free everything Echo has to offer it just can’t be beat! Everything is voice command from answered questions about anything, directions, making phone calls or listening to exactly what music you want to hear. I love it. I’m also 68 and by no means a Geek and had no problem getting it to work. Get some.

Groceries
My wife and I have several lists on Alexa for groceries and household staples like paper towels. Frequently we will be in the car and decide we want X for dinner next week and using our auto Alexa, add the ingredients to the appropriate list. Since we share that Alexa info, whoever goes to the store next knows what to get by checking the items off the list in the Alexa app on our phone.

Echo Auto
I didn’t expect it to work as good as it did. I bought the Echo Auto refurbished for about $25 to see if it would work. I have a 2004 Corvette with a stock AM/FM radio with CD. It has no bluetooth and no audio jack port. I paired it to my iPhone and hooked it up with an FM transmitter to the cigarette lighter port and I’m so excited I can now talk to Alexa and I have XM music playing through my car speakers. There was one stretch of road this morning that ran through a wooded area where I got a faint static noise, but that cleared up as I got into a more open area. Overall, I’m very happy with it.

Better than buying a stereo.
The product is good for a refurbished model. There were a few glitches with it…like the fact that it wouldn’t automatically pair with my phone. Or the fact that it didn’t tell me which artist was while I was driving. I did…however…appreciate the fact that I didn’t have to disconnect and reconnect the device every time I reentered my car. It pretty much started right up.

So far, so good.
I half expected this to not work in my 2001 Exploder.I have a bluetooth thingy that plugs in and uses FM to link.I downloaded the app, and it set right up.My commute is like 12 minutes, so it’ll be a while before I get value, but it’s better than static and local rando radio.

Great for older cars
I picked this up for my older car that doesn’t have Bluetooth audio. Got a refurbished unit for a lower price. Have only had a single point of time where an issue occured, but nothing more after that.

Great add-on for your auto
I have a vehicle without navigation and this fills that void. Easy to set up. It’s also great to have Alexa available to ask questions. I ordered a dashboard sticky pad so I can place this on top of my dash because the supplied holder that fits in the vent won’t work for my car. This sticky pad holds it firmly in place and it doubles to hold my sunglasses when I’m not using the Echo Auto.

It works
It just connects your car audio to your phone. This is only useful on older cars, where you can’t pair your car and phone with Bluetooth. On newer cars, all you need is the Alexa app on your phone.

Honestly, for the price it’s not a bad deal.
I mean if you’re going to buy product like this you likely have money to spend. This item is no way essential and just a cool accessory for the car.It works great though. Fairly easy set up with the Amazon Alexa App. If you don’t have a Bluetooth radio the wires can be a bit messy but it listens well and gets me exactly what I need. Not groundbreaking technology, but you will get what you expect when buying this product for sure.
