    Pairing of Alexa Dot and Kasa Smart Bulb KL135

    I was not able to pair the Kasa KL135 Smart Bulb with my Dot. I followed the instructions to a T, after about 30 minutes I called Kasa support.     It works correctly!

    This light bulb is small and adaptable to any lamp; I can easily change colors through voice commands. The light is warm and cool, and if I want regular light, I can choose that too. It has a high capacity to illuminate large areas and also saves energy. It’s a good investment.

    I would recommend this lightbulbs for all your sockets. All you have to do is ask Alexa to turn them on and she will turn on all your lights. I Amazon Alexa is amazing to have anything attached to make your life. Easier works very well. I love the fact that it changes colors.

    I have this bulb in my over-desk lamp. It works perfectly! Kasa is easy to link to the Alexa home app. I can ask Alexa to turn on/off, change the brightness, and even change the color if I like. It’s great!

    Top of my list of Don’t Waste Your Money !This is a part of a Christmas gift on it’s way to the trash because it fails completely to link up with the smart plug, and trying to get support from Amazon and the product supplier is nothing but a run around.** After a lot of trial and error i was finally able to link up this light, BUT I’ll never order as a gift again, it’s to much of a pain.

    After reading reviews, I was pretty nervous about ordering these seems how some people made it seem like a lottery order with quite a few different complaints. That could still be the case. Several people mentioned black or white bottom bulbs, but I’m still not sure what that means, since I didn’t see anyone who mentioned them post a picture of the different kinds they were talking about.But in any case, when I ordered the 4 pack they were all the same, as pictured with box, and they all work. The exact model is KL130 for anyone who’s curious. I got the 4 pack because I was worried about getting mismatched versions, so I guess at least in my case that worked. I just ordered a second 4 pack to do the rest of my apartment, so if they wind up being different, I’ll come back and say so.I also read one review that said the bulbs were off and wouldn’t go in their sockets which gave me doubts as well, but they do, in fact, fit into a standard socket. I got 3 of my 4 pack into my overhead fan light (the standard kind with gold metal, ridged glass and brown wood blades you see in apartments everywhere), then tested the remainder out in my bathroom mirror 4-light strip (again, the cheap medicine cabinet kind you see in low rent apartments everywhere) and then again into my old-timey touch lamp and it worked in all of them, so unless you have exotic fixtures of some kind, you’re good to go. Also slightly surprised that they worked in my touch lamp, so if you were wondering about that, just touch to the highest light setting and you’re good to go.I was also kind of worried about how the setup would go since a few people said it was wonky, but not how and I didn’t see the actual process pop right up in the first few pages of reviews, so I’ll just include it here:1. Download the “Kasa Smart” app, create a login and verify your email.2. Put a light into your target fixture, turn it on to make sure it works, then turn it back off again.3. Hit the plus sign in the upper right hand corner of the app.4. Tap on the “Device” option5. Tap on the “Smart light” option6. Tap on the “Smart bulb KL100 series” option7. The first prompt says “First, make sure the power is off on the light you’re replacing. Swap the current bulb with the smart bulb”, you’ve already done this, so tap “Next”.8. The next prompt says “Power on the light, wait about 5 seconds until the smart bulb blinks 3 times”. Do that and then hit next.9. It’ll connect and then ask you to sign into your wifi.10. You’ll get a prompt for your bulb to update, do that.11. Give the bulb a name.12. DoneOptional #1: If you want to put a cluster of bulbs into a group so they all change colors/dim simultaneously like I wanted to with my 3 fan lights, make sure you’ve set each bulb up separately, then hit the + sign in the upper right hand corner and tap “group”. Then select the bulbs you want to put in a group and give it a name. The main interface page will show groups on top as well as each individual bulb below.Optional #2: Set up with your Alexa/Google/whatever. I jumped the gun on connecting Alexa before I added the bulbs and she announced each time one was installed that I could now control “TP underscore … blah blah blah” by talking to her. Kind of highlights the importance of the names if you’re going to be doing this because no way are you saying its given device name to control it. I mean, unless you’re into that kind of thing, no judgement, but not for me.Even though *I think* I got the model everyone was a bit displeased with, aside from putting in the wrong wifi password on the first attempt and having to delete and reinstall the app to fix it, setup was surprisingly easy and quick. Zero wonkiness actually wound up happening, so another win.In terms of brightness and color versatility, when it’s at it’s brightest in white, I can’t tell the difference between it and the intense spiral LED’s it replaced…which is to say they’re capable of being blinding if that’s what you need.For color versatility you legitimately get a whole color wheel to choose a color with and then the hardest part is really just picking one since all the colors look pretty cool. In an entirely dark room at night, the colors at full brightness somehow give a dimmed feel while still providing all the light you could want to look around with. As a dark mode everything person, it’s a strange surprise best of both worlds scenario I keep double checking when I think it’s actually dimmed by reading the book titles in perfect clarity across the room.The dimming feature is on a percentage wheel similar to a speedometer and is also pretty nice.Overall, I’m really happy with my purchase and that the reviews freaked me out for zero reason. If you get the 4 pack and/or the same version bulbs as I did, you should be all good :).

    Great Value

    Bought the 4 pack of lights on sale. I used to have several Kasa at the outlet plugs that turned on my lights at sunset, but have largely replaced those with these bulbs. They’re easy to setup and only had an issue with one of them not finding the wifi network during setup. The easy fix was just plugging it into a different light socket and for some reason that got it working. Adding them to the Alexa app was as easy as the outlet plugs. One benefit of the bulbs over the plugs is now I can tell Alexa to “turn living room green” and the bulbs change to that color. The other benefit with the bulbs over the plugs is you can install them recessed or existing lighting fixtures in your home. I use 3 of these in the lighting over the kitchen island and they’re programmed to come on at sunset, and if I need more brightness I can tell Alexa to increase to 100% brightness. You just need to remember to leave the light switch that controls those light sockets in the on position, but in my kitchen that switch is in a less used corner, so there’s little risk someone will hit it accidentally. You can also use the Kasa app to tell the bulbs to either use the last lighting settings or start with a particular setting whenever power to the bulb is turned off and on again.

    Configuring with Alexa can be tricky

    While this came free with and Echo Pop and the Pop was already on sale, I feel I should warn everyone that setup with Alexa was not easy. Terrible instructions and you are forced to use the Kasa app that makes you give them personal info I’m sure they are selling. I am no novice to Smart device setup and I have 6+ Echo devices. Here’s what happened with this bulb: the second it was powered up it changed color from warm white to cool white and flashed once to show it was in setup mode. Before I even opened the Kasa app, it bulb popped up in the Alexa app with a generic smart bulb 1 name. I was instantly able to power on/off and change colors with Alexa. Then it suddenly stopped working and disappeared from the Alexa app. I had to open the Kasa app and reset the bulb per Kasa app instructions. Only then could I reconfigure in the Kasa app. For that point forward there was no way I could find to make Alexa see the bulb again. It took a call to Amazon support to get it to work. This required disabling the Kasa app that magically installed itself into the Alexa app. Then enabling it again and deleting and reinstalling the bulb in the Kasa app. Once it started working with Alexa, the next Kasa bulb installed easily. But this was too much of a time suck to get a free bulb to work. Come on Amazon… tech support was well aware of the problems with this bulb before I called. They must have gotten many calls with the same issue before my call.

    First off I basically got these free with the Black Friday sale as it was included with the Echo Show 8.We got these this morning and after registering online and downloading the app and followed the directions on the app to set up the light it works perfect.While I have to admit I really have no real need for a smart light I may use it for the red light while watching TV or lighting the room up for the midnight hours as a night light feature.The real question about these lights or any smart lights is longevity of the product. Because if I paid $20 or more for them I would hope that 2 years use would be more like 5 years or more. We date our led lights to remember when they were installed so we know how long they last. To give us an indication to what there true longevity is.

    It has more features than I thought

    I purchased this because I was going to be out of town for a few weeks and I wanted to set lights to turn on and off at night to give the house a lived-in look.I was pleasantly surprised by a few features. You can pick different colors for the bulb (I didn’t use this feature when I was away, but it’s something I may use in the future). The bulb can be set (using the kasa app) to turn off and on at specific times (you have to create one setting to turn the light on and a second to turn it off).I haven’t tried using this with my Amazon Echo devices, but I may try in the future.

    Smart Bulb

    The bulb we received doesn’t change color. That was a let down. We really wanted the one that changes color. Hopefully the seller will see this review and send the right bulb.It does work with Alexa. It can be temperamental when it wants to. Which is pretty funny. You tell Alexa to turn the bulb on & it will say something ridiculous. But it does turn on. sometimes right away. Sometimes after a couple tries. We really like the smart bulb. This is are first one. We might purchase more in the future.

    it works great

    I really like it. I got this as a promotional item/bundle with an Amazon Echo Dot. Since then, I got an extra set of four of these.The bulb is more than bright enough for my use (in ceiling lamps, nightstand lamps and mood lights). The color and brightness can be easily adjusted. Switching these on using the Kasa app can default to using the color temperature of the current time of day and appropriate brightness.

    Kasa is the favorite in my casa

    If it’s not Kasa it’s basura!I think Kasa is the best brand for smart home accessories. Super easy to set up, exactly what I’m looking for, very long lasting! I haven’t had any problems with any of my Kasa devices ever.

    its a lightbulb with internet

    its a light bulb. came with new echo. I installed it and set it up on the internets (I have a bunch of Kasa stuff so it was easy). turns on and off and has a bunch of colors available.

    Love this smart bulb

    I got this smart bulb in my son’s room and it really easy to work it’s great I can control it right from my phone or from my Alexa pop app and I would buy it again

    Easy setup with Alexa Echo Dot.

    This bulb came as part of an Alexa Echo Dot promotion. I had never heard of the Kasa brand, but it works very well paired with the Alexa Echo Dot. It responds quickly and dependably with Alexa commands. You must download the Kasa app which pairs seamlessly with the Alexa app.

    The bulb is easy to install, provides good lighting, and offers multiple options. Overall, I like itConsiderations to keep in mind:1. You must always keep the switch turned on to use it via the app or voice command with Alexa.2. If your Wi-Fi is unstable, it will obviously cease to function for app or Alexa control.”

    casi todo excelente

    es muy bueno pero tengo constantes errores de cambio de color con alexa y el foco .. con google assisstant no tengo ese problema

    Love this light integrated with Alexa

    Super easy to install and love using Alexa to turn on/off. Works perfectly. The right answer to turning the lamp off after laying down in the bed. Will buy another for my living room lamp!

    Love them

    It works!! I connected it with my alexa and it works amazing!! I went out of town and needed to show light in the house like if ppl where in their and it worked 600+ miles away controlled it through my alexa app need more!!

    Awesome Customer Service

    Had problems linking this bulb to my wifi. Call TPlink customer service and Christopher Phillip immediately fix the problem and my smart bulb was connected with alexa. I’m not too savvy when it comes to internet/ tech issues. Now I can tell alexa to turn my lights on and off or make a schedule. Awesome 👌 custome Service.

    Works Flawlessly

    I love KASA products. They are the third brand that I have tried and I only plan on buying KASA in the future. They have a fantastic app and I never have connectivity issues. Easy to install and works great with Alexa.
