    Missing features that others have

I have used Kasa and Hue bulbs before, but I decided to give these a try since I have a Ring system and they were not that expensive. The setup was easy enough, but there were some issues at the beginning. Still, they work perfectly fine. The one gripe I have is there is no way to change the loss of power response. There have been a few times where power has gone out and then the lights kick on when power returns. It is not a good thing to have. I would prefer the light go to the state should be in at the time. That is, if a routine would have turned off the light, or the light was already off and nothing would have turned it on, the light should be off. The power has gone out in the middle of the night a few times and we wake up to lights on. It is a simple fix in the Ring app, but since these run off the app, I have to review them using that. Overall, they work well, but the ability to choose the state upon power restoration would be a great thing to have.

    Good product but bad shipping

I bought 6 of these lights to coordinate with my Ring floodlights and cameras. They seem to work well, but two of them had crushed boxes. I recommend that Amazon not ship this type of product in a soft bag. They should have been shipped in a box. Hoping they continue to work well and are not affected by being smashed.

IMPORTANT TECHNICAL ISSUE (** Some resolution)

IMPORTANT TECHNICAL UPDATE: ( ** you can now install the Ring Mailbox Sensor via Echo Show 10/Sidewalk. You cannot uninstall the Echo Show 10 from the Ring APP or select the bridge- this continues to be an issue**)There is currently a catch 22 situation with the ring app, Echo Show 10, the Ring Bridge and Ring Mailbox Motion Sensor. The current RING app version has some issues as follows:IF you install the Echo Show 10 on the Ring app, you cannot uninstall it. You cannot rename it. In and of itself: not too terrible of an issue and will soon enough be resolved I am sure. This is problem number ONE.However: if you are installing a Ring Motion Sensor AFTER the installation of the Echo Show 10, you will be unable to actually install the motion sensor. For those NOT interested in using the Amazon Sidewalk Network (your Echo Show 10 is a gateway) you will be FORCED to use the sidewalk network programatically within the RING app. – no judgement here, but I personally want to use the Ring Bridge (it is a better choice for me/ location wise and by my privacy choices. You will NOT be able to use the Ring Bridge to install the Ring Mailbox Motion Sensor, it is not an option within the app currently. Even if it were installed FIRST, and before the Echo Show 10. You do not have a choice of the Bridge or Echo show 10 (differing connection networks). Problem number TWO.After enabling the Sidewalk Network on the Echo Show 10, you will still be unable to actually connect the Ring Motion Sensor to the Echo Show 10 (even though Alexa does see and connects to the device) the Ring app does not recognize this and fails the installation wizard within the Ring App. The device will not be properly set up for either Alexa, or the Ring App. Problem Number THREE.Until the RING app is fixed, the only way to install the Ring Mailbox Motion Sensor will be by using the RING Bridge and NOT installing the echo show 10 until AFTER the Ring Bridge and the Ring Mailbox Motion Sensor are installed. Just be sure that the order is followed or you will have to be patient until it is fixed. This issue pertains more to NEW customers of all of the products in question.Since you cannot install using sidewalk, and you cannot delete the Echo Show 10 (or even rename it at this time) any other order of installation will be impossible to complete and have a working motion sensor in your mailbox…until the app is fixed. I have contact Ring about this issue, and I am sure a resolution will come within the following weeks. I will EDIT this posted review once the app update has resolved this issue.

    It worked!

I am not the greatest with tech. I get frustrated and am always saying “why does everything have to be so complicated!” But I just read the directions and got it installed and working. We have the Ring Doorbell. I was gone after dark and had to unlock front door in the dark. That prompted me to buy this Smart lightbulb that I can turn on with my phone! I have it set to come on a dusk and off at dawn. I do recommend you find out if you need a bridge. My Alexa Show is 5th Generation. Did not work with that. You need a 10. The best deal is buying 2 light bulbs with a bridge.

    Easy plug and play

Very quick set up. Swaped out the my outside door lamp light thingy. Just make sure you turn on the light back on after you swap out the old one. Scan the little barcode thingy and it sends you through the the up. I already had a bridge so it linked up perfect. Now that it’s winter time and get darker much earlier I can set this to be on before I get home.

    Works like a charm!

Connects beautifully with Echo Home / Alexa. Saves on electricity. I put it into the lights I tend to accidentally leave on the most. Therefore I don’t need to get back up to turn them off, I can just tell my device to do it.

I couldn’t get it to work. It’s suppose to be compatible with the Echo show, but the app wouldn’t connect. Also had trouble get the app to to take required information for setup.Updated review. After my review I was contacted by customer service. I was instructed on installing my light. We were still not able to get it to install. A replacement was sent. I was able to set it up by myself. Ring now gets 5 stars. Great customer service.

Not worth the price for the quality and NO support

UPDATE: Since writing this review, Ring contacted me about my experience. We discussed the issues via phone conversation very pleasantly and Ring did replace my light bulbs at no cost. I do still wish there was an easier way to contact them.Original post:I bought several of these light bulbs and placed them throughout my home. They do work BUT they have lots of issues. One, and this is a major issue, is that if your power goes out and is later restored, the light bulbs reset to the ON position until you turn them off. They WILL NOT remember the last state such as power off. This is really a big issue in the middle of the night when there’s a power outage then it’s restored. Your whole home that has these light bulbs is fully lit. What a great way to wake up in the middle of the night! It takes about 10 minutes to regain control thru the app or using your Alexa device. Two, some of my light bulbs are flickering for no apparent reason. One got so bad that I had to replace it. I used another manufacturer that DOESN’T have any of the issues in this review. Three, tech support is ONLY available via phone. The issue with this is that you don’t get to speak with someone from your country and it’s very difficult to communicate with them as they are just reading a script. No help there.By the way, this review wants to “Rate features”. This product DOES NOT have Motion Detection, nor does the PAR38 light bulb. So that’s useless. So, in summary, I would not recommend these light bulbs at any price, although, the brightness of these bulbs is great. The Chinese knock-offs are far better and more cost-effective.

Best option for smart lighting if you already have Ring

I already have a Ring alarm system and some cameras and thought adding these to my existing ecosystem would be handy. It turns out it was. The positives I see are (1) the connections are through the Ring bridge instead of individual bulbs. This helps reduce WiFi pings/demand compared to others that require individual connection to WiFi, (2) no additional apps are needed to run them beyond existing Ring app and the integration with alarm and cameras is seamless, (3) range is really good. i have a couple of bulbs 60-70 feet from the bridge and the connections are good. I am sure it they would be outside of the range of my WiFi, and (4) integration with Alexa is automatic if you already have Alexa set up. The down side appears to be cost compared to other options but if you have a Ring system already it is worth the difference in my opinion.

Don’t waste your money – bridge can’t automatically reconnect if wi-fi goes down

I had an extended absence from home over the summer so I purchased several ring smart bulbs and outlets along with the required ring “bridge”. Everything worked great for a week and I could turn the lights on and off with my phone from several thousand miles away from home. Then, the internet service in my home cut out temporarily as it is prone to do in my area (my service provider has intermittent internet outages). The service restored itself after about an hour and my modem/router reset. After the outage, my ring cameras and hard wired doorbell all came back online but my smart bulbs and outlets all stayed “offline” and the Ring Bridge would not automatically reconnect to my wi-fi. It showed “updating” in the Device Health page of the app and “no signal”, “no network”, “not connected”. Apparently this piece of garbage was not designed to reset and automatically reconnect after an outage (which could occur during a temporary power outage – for example). It is a very common feature on almost ALL electronic devices that use wi-fi that they automatically reconnect to the network after a disconnection. Somehow, the GENIUSES that designed this cheap crap “bridge” didn’t think to include this feature in their product.I called Ring customer service and I was told that I needed to do a hard reset of the device (turn off/turn on). I explained that I was not at home and asked how it could be done remotely (this hard reset information is available on their website and I didn’t need to wait 15 minutes on hold to be given info I already had). They suggested that I have a family member or neighbor do it for me. I explained that I installed these devices because I had no one to watch my house while I was gone and that the primary purpose of using smart bulbs was a security measure precisely for when someone was NOT at home. So calling their Mumbay or New Dehli customer service was a waste of time. They should have included on their website the information regarding no remote reset. So now I have wasted a tone of money for some crap that doesn’t work. I feel like I have been deceived and cheated.

Warning: Cannot share light controls with family!

As a smart bulb, this works fine. The color is not soft white, nor daylight. It has a slight blue tint somewhere in-between. It dims fine. The MAJOR problem with the Ring smart lighting is that you CANNOT SHARE the devices with others in your household.I have the Ring Alarm Pro, which acts as a smart lighting bridge (for Ring branded smart lights), and also is a Z-wave hub. I have many z-wave smart devices connected to the Ring Alarm Pro and they work great and show up in my wife’s Ring and Alexa apps. I ASSUMED the Ring smart lighting worked the same way and that my wife could turn on/off the lights through her Ring and Alexa app. But this is NOT the case. According to Ring, NO RING SMART LIGHTING IS SHAREABLE! This is a non-starter, and defeats the purpose of having smart lights for anyone living with others. So, if you want to share light controls, do NOT invest in any Ring branded smart lighting. Stick to another smart home hub, or if you have a Ring Alarm Pro, stick with other branded Z-wave devices, not Ring smart lights. Unfortunately, there aren’t any z-wave bulbs widely available, so if you want to control a lamp, you’ll need a z-wave dimming plug paired with a non-smart dimmable LED bulb.

    Pretty good for the $

Nice easy set up. Update took forever until I killed the app and restarted it, but then it was fine. Using item as a front porch light, it would be nice if Ring could use its own motion Detector from the door bell cam to activate the light, but instead you have to use alexa to recognize the motion detection and trigger the bridge to tell the light to turn on. Why couldn’t ring figure this part out independently, Idk. BUT… through alexa you get the same function. The only problem is that if you use the schedule for it to be functional after dusk… it overrides the motion detection at night as per the routine it will be on all night. It NEEDS to have an option to do nothing during the day… and to only respond to motion after dusk… and it needs to be through the Ring network instead of bouncing stuff of Alexa. Despite how great Ring and Alexa are… there should be no need for them to mingle on this level.

Such a convenient way to light up your home

I have to say the reason I purchased this lightbulb was one night I was laying in bed and I wasn’t feeling so great and my light is across the room and it was frustrating for me that I had to get up and walk over to my light which normally is not a problem but when you don’t feel good and you’re exhausted and you climb in the bed and then realize oh dang it the light is still on the last thing you want to do is walk across the room to turn your light off. And so I thought to myself wouldn’t it be great to just tell my light to turn off instead of getting up or having to clap your hands. So then I went on to search for smart lights and long and behold I found the ring smart lightbulb. It pairs well with your Amazon echo devices and since I use the ring for my security I thought what the heck why not get a lightbulb. Now I own several of these lights and I have to say best purchase ever! I love having a timer set for the lights to turn on when it’s getting dark outside so when I arrive home from work my home is lit I like being able to set the lights on a timer to turn off at specific times as well as two voice control from across the room. Some people might look at this is being lazy but it is a huge convenience. Easy to set up as long as you have the ring bridge and an echo device as well as a smart phone with the app. I have multiples of these lightbulbs throughout my home as well as multiple ring devices and definitely to me it is worth every penny the convenience and peace of mind it provides!

    A bright idea!

Just installed these (3) today, it was a pretty straight forward install, as changing out a light bulb should be.Well almost, the code that you need to scan for each bulb is on the bottom of the box or on the light bulb itself (very small for old eyes). If your installing multiple lights I’d recommend keeping the bulb and box together, not unboxing all of them and mixing them up as someone may have done. It’s too late to scan the code on the bulb after its in a fixture! The codes have numbers so if you can read them you can match them up… anyway just screw the bulb in scan the code from its box, pretty straight forward. I’m fairly pleased with the amount of light that they give off. More so than my previous bulbs and it is nice that I can dim them from the app. I have two outside and one inside. I was a bit confused with the questions that the app asked about motion though! I was beginning to think that these were also motion sensitive bulbs, but they are not. The required bridge allows them to work with motion from other devices. I have my inside porch bulb setup to come on when my ring doorbell senses motion and my outside lights are on from dusk till dawn, this works very nicely. Setting this up in the app isn’t as straight forward as it could be though! I had to link the doorbell with the light in the doorbell section not the lighting section. I have two more cameras/motion sensors to install so it’s going to get interesting as far as the app goes, but everything works as I want it to right now. Overall I’m very pleased with these bulbs. DON’T forget to purchase the Ring bridge, I know it says everywhere that you need it, but someone’s going to give this a once star review because they didn’t buy it or it doesn’t work without it…..

    Not an easy installation

As per other reviews, the ring bridge installation required perseverance to complete. Be sure to use the Q code in the packaging to get it to work. The Q code triggered a software update and I was finally able to get it to connect to my network. It took several attempts but if finally connected and seems stable. Same thing with each lightbulb…..use the Q code for the update and then they connected easily to the bridge. I also bought the outdoor light socket and used the same process. All now connected in the Ring app and working fine

    Not Perfect Yet

I have 10 of these bulbs around my house. A couple of the indoor bulbs have started to flicker. I’ve tried reinstalling them. I returned one of them and it was replaced by Ring. But the new one started to flicker too. Our electrician said that sometimes, these types of LED bulbs aren’t compatible with older (20 years old) light fixtures. I’m still happy and I will buy more if I need to. But a fix would be much appreciated.

    UPDATED REVIEW!

UPDATE: I changed my previous 1 star review (details below) to a 5 star review after getting an unexpected follow up from the Ring team (based on my original negative review). They determined that the two bulbs I received were from a bad batch that wasn’t able to update firmware correctly and exchanged them for two new bulbs. The setup for the new bulbs was quick and easy and both now work flawlessly. I appreciate the Ring team going above and beyond to rectify this issue!ORIGINAL 1 STAR REVIEW: Received two of these bulbs as a combo with two new Echos I purchased and finally got around to trying to set them up which turned out to be a complete waste of two hours. Took several tries to get either bulb to connect to my Echo (which has a built-in hub) and then both bulbs immediately showed “offline” no matter what I tried. I did try resetting my router/modem and my echo and bulbs but nothing helped and also tried resetting the bulbs to factory state and running back through the setup process several times. I see others have had the same problems so I know it’s not just me. Fortunately I got these as free add-ons but it is disappointing nonetheless. As a side note I do have two Ring doorbells and security light cam and those work flawlessly. I definitely don’t recommend these bulbs.

I’m satisfied but it was a pain to install

Unlike the Ring Motion device which installed easily and setup quickly in my Ring software, this Ring Bridge was a big pain. It took me almost 20 attempts to get it to set up, timing out multiple times and not fully installing. I turned my phone on and off multiple times as well as unplugging the bridge. It FINALLY got through to my Wifi, and at that point everything went smoothly. But wow….I was like a minute away from returning the whole thing as “broken”.As for the lighting of these bulbs, they’re not very warm. They emit a very bright ice cold almost blue light, unlike other lightbulbs which can be tinted yellow or orange…..they’re not very soft. It’s almost garish. But hey….I no longer have to manually flip on my outside lights or leave work early so I don’t come home to complete darkness, so that’s good. Here’s hoping the bulbs last a few years!

    Lights working well now

I had some issues with the Ring lights using the Echo 4th generation as a bridge. Working with an assigned customer agent from Ring, went very well. After they provided a Ring bridge, the lights work very well now. I especially like their dust to dawn schedule because it is based on sunset and sunrise at the location to which you register the lights (address). They adjust daily to the changes in sunset and sunrise.

Great for adding existing fixtures to Ring

I have several of these installed in my existing porch lamps and pole lantern. They work with Ring. They do not contain motion detectors, but are easily connected to other Ring devices that do, through the Ring bridge. I connected them to my Ring doorbell and Ring garage floodlight, so that my entire front yard is illuminated when the motion detectors in either of those is activated. I also have them in the existing ceiling fixtures in my garage, activated by the motion detector on the indoor cam in the garage. When anyone enters the garage through any door, the ceiling lights automatically come on (but only during the times that I specify, at night). Nice and bright, and don’t attract bugs at night.

Won’t work with Echo show as bridge

Update: Ring has pretty good customer service. They sent me a new bulb and when that didn’t work, they sent me a bridge. The bridge made it work although I’m still a bit disappointed that it didn’t work without the bridge like they claim it will. Overall, however, I adjusted it from one star to four because of their customer service.———————This was literally sold with the Echo show as a package deal because it’s supposed to use the echo as a bridge. Well, it doesn’t work. I have the ring “skill” on the show, and no matter what, it won’t see the light. Don’t waste your money on this crap if you expect it to work with your echo show.

Defective A19 Smart LED bulbs Revised

Two of my A19 Smart LED bulbs in table lamps have stopped working properly after 3-4 months. The first can no longer be controlled by Alexa or Ring app although it works manually. Device Health states there “Is No Signal from Bulb to Bridge”.The second has morning and evening schedules. The evening schedule works well from dusk to 10:00pm. The morning schedule turns on correctly at 6:30am but will not turn off at dawn. It stays on for hours.Any ideas how to correct these problems? All our other Alexa and Ring devices work well.Revision: I received an email from a Ring technician asking me to designate some days and times that I could be contacted by phone to solve my problem. My reply included three dates (afternoons) and my phone number. Six days have gone by and there has been no contact from Ring support. That is why I have reduced the rating from four to three stars.By the way, I have two other A19 Smart LED bulbs that work perfectly along with all my other Ring and Alexa devices.

    Flickering is crazy

Purchased 4 of these bulbs May 2021 for my exterior door/porch lights. 3 are starting to flicker or strobe all the time. I finally put regularly bulbs back in. I have tried to contact Ring 3 times about a replacement but are no help, just round and round in circles about the problem and how to reset and check the bulb. Just replace it under warranty already I’m not trying to cheat you!! Think about it before purchasing.

    Great Once Set Up Properly

Updated Review: Ring Customer Support reached out after reading my initial review, and provided excellent assistance. I had figured out on my own that to connect my Galaxy S10 to the Bridge I had to turn off mobile data and force stop a default security app. Daniel from customer support helped me get the lights properly configured. Now Alexa turns them on and off, and can dim them. Ring stopped working when the Amazon servers went down for two days. This is not a perfect system, but *once configured properly* it is convenient and easy.Original Review:Ring Customer Support is unable to help me get the bridge connected. Everything else in my house can connect to my internet, but not the bridge. I have spent hours on this thing with no remedy in sight. Support had me uninstall the Ring app, and I had a terrible time getting logged back on. The app seems buggy. Also, Customer Support call center offers a ‘pre-verification’ process. But the verification code on the app is covered up by an app message so there is no way to see it to be able to enter it. I am frustrated.

Functionality and the seamlessness systematic integration!

The smart lights along with the bridge (needed for proper connection and function) works like a charm and as advertised.I like the fact, that when someone activates my Ring peephole doorbell, either passing through it’s detection zone, or actually at my door, it activates my designated smart A19 bulbs (temporarily) to let me know someone is there. This is great, because if I have notifications turned off my designated smart bulbs will still illuminate, again, temporarily—as I have it set for.A great functionality of the systems advanced notification process, and likewise, you can control the time that you would like the light(s) to operate along with your Ring Doorbell, both illumination time and when you would like this function activated. This is convenient and saves energy. And if you need to turn on your smart bulb(s), the designated notification function, takes over as scheduled if you forget to turn off your bulb.A great safety advantage and functionality that enhances the Ring alarm system and provides piece of mind. The other advantage that I want to mention, the occupant in your designated alert zone, or at your door, doesn’t even know they have activated a system of lights to notify you of their presence. This is great should you be in a different room and have notifications silence.Great job Ring!

Bulb is fine. Infrastructure still work in progress.

This is pretty simple. Home automation is getting close to being highly usable out of the box by most everybody, having genuine usefulness (or even more than that), value in price, and making aspects of life better with each step. Not there yet, depending. Like this. There are barriers like needing to use a bridge device or by turning on Alexa Sidewalk in a compatible and nearby Alexa Echo. That’s controversial right now because that is an Alexa-enabled open network passerby can join meant to give your household — and other Alexa users nearby — more seamless connections. I had it off because security and privacy issues are not fully understood yet. To use this as is, “on” or else. I didn’t like that. Within Alexa, yeah, I can control the bulb. On/off, dim up/down. Create, add to to routines. I still find Alexa’s command syntax to be like an awkward (programming) language where I haven’t yet understood why this here and that there. I’ve not spent time on it because I’m really busy otherwise and that feels like self-checkout — more fruitless tasks that by using without complaint all this time, I am still unpaid labor using bad machines not substantially better now than at the outset. My acquiescence has only encouraged today’s stupid machines shouting bad directions or causing me this week to re-scan my entire order and still fail to process. And so, for me this infrastructure is still to much at the checkout machine satisfaction threshold.

Update again June 23 2022 – getting better

UPDATE: I was contacted by support and a very helpful representative has sent me a replacement bulb. I will update this again once I try the new item. For now, despite the fact that Jeff Bezos has not sent an emissary to scoop the belowmentioned deceased local fauna, I have added two very fair stars to this rating as a show of good faith.I’ve had nothing but problems with this bulb because Ring decided to continue using its own proprietary software despite being purchased by Amazon (I have an Alexa 4 or whatever with the built-un ZigBee hub). This bulb can’t change color, was more expensive than any other smart bulb I’ve bought, and now after using it for less than a year it is flickering constantly. This has been causing seizures in all of the neighborhood cats and birds who have had the misfortune of looking into my window while the light was “on.” The only way to rectify would be for an Amazon executive to show up at my house with a snow shovel and scoop all of the fallen animals off my property. That, or make your terrible smart home system actually compatible with your other terrible smart home system.

Lights can’t stay on for more than 5 minutes

Update: After posting this review I got a call from support. It turns out if you go to the app on your phone, turn on the light, hit edit on the popup and change the setting to Activate until I turn them off, that setting will stay and will work when you tell Alexa to turn the light on.For some reason you can only set the light to stay on for 30 seconds, 1, 3, or 5 minutes. This means every five minutes the light turns off. I can’t imagine why they would limit how long you can leave a light turned on. You can keep it turned on only if you go to the group settings on your phone and turn it on that way. I am the only one in my family with this app so it doesn’t help them at all. This also means you can’t have Alexa turn it on if you want it to stay on longer than 5 minutes.I also can’t find any documentation that explains what the “alert snooze duration” and “on duration” settings do.I need to put the old bulb back in and hopefully find a place I can use a bulb that turns off when you don’t want it to.

    Bright light and easy setup

I purchased 6 bulbs for my exterior lights and couldn’t be happier so far. Setup with the bridge was simple and connectivity has been great. These bulbs are very bright, much brighter than my standard LED bulb I had in there before. I use the dusk-dawn schedule on all my bulbs (except 1) which was an easy/logical process through the app. I also have 2 ring stick up cams and a ring doorbell which I linked to a bulb by my back door. I set the schedule on the link to turn the light on whenever it detects motion between 9pm and 6am. The responsiveness from motion detected to turning on the light is quick, and the light stays on for about a minute. Again a very easy/logical setup through the app. I like how you can see the “history” of lighting events in the app so I can know the exact time of when lights turned on/off for the dusk-dawn schedule (or for motion detected on my other bulb). Overall great product. Really hope these bulbs last as long as they say for $15 a piece!

EASY to set up and control

Had to add security to my mom’s house when she was taken ill. These bulbs were perfect–able to put them anywhere in the house and set up individual schedules for each one. Controlled on the ring app remotely as well. LOVE THEM. The controller linked to my wifi effortlessly. Very impressed.

Works great but more expensive than cheaper smart bulbs

I was able to get these working great after installing the Ring bridge. More expensive than other smart bulbs but these are super fast to setup. I had a different cheaper brand that did not work.

    Excellent Smart Light Bulbs

Updated Review (March 22, 2022):I originally left a review (seen below) which noted that the lights paired well with our Ring and Alexa devices and were very easy to sync to an automated on/off schedule, however, I really disliked the fact that the bulbs were flickering. Well, I must say, Ring has truly amazing customer service. Ryan from Ring Customer Service saw my review and contacted me to help troubleshoot and he also sent updated replacement bulbs which work perfectly. No more flickering!! We are thrilled and absolutely in love with our Ring light bulbs now that the issue is resolved. As a matter of fact, we plan to purchase more of these new bulbs for the rest of the house. Thanks very much Ring and Ryan for your excellent customer service and product! If you are reading this review and on the fence about purchasing these bulbs, I recommend them to you without reservation. Rest assured that Ring makes good quality products and even in the rare circumstances if some type of problem arises, Ring will stand by their product!!!Conclusion?– Buy them!! :)Original Review:We love how well these connect to the Ring Bridge and they are easy to use with voice commands (on our echo show and our fire tablets). It is also easy to automatically turn them off/on according to a schedule of your choice through the Ring app. However the problem is that they constantly flicker. It’s really annoying and disorienting. Not something we expected for bulbs at this price point. I don’t know if the problem is the ring bridge or the bulbs. Apparently it’s a pretty uncommon problem because most people don’t seem to have any trouble. I only see twenty (20) other reviews that mention the flickering. Maybe the issue is that a small percentage of the ring bridges are defective? We’ve experienced the flickering from day 1. Nothing seems to improve it and we have excellent high speed internet, so the wifi signal is not the problem. We would absolutely love them and buy more if they didn’t flicker so badly. It’s a shame. We will search for another smart bulb alternative.

    Have this for 4 years!

Not for nothing I’ve had these for four years and counting. I’ve had more problems with my thousands of dollars spent on phones and other technology than this. I only had to reset these maybe 2 or 3 times, schedule works great! I wish I can link them with my Ring system, these for me work better. The app and connection process is a little of a pain, not that much to whine about. But it works great once all set no more fudging around afterwards to fix etc.

Bought 5, one flickers and one is dead after 3 years.

I use these for my outdoor lightening with a 3.5 hours daily average use. They switch on at dusk and turn off at 10 pm using a schedule. As per the product details it should have lasted 20 years. But I already have 1 that went bad after 3 years and another one that constantly flickers. Compared to my Philips LEDs, the quality is very average and doesn’t justify the $15 price.

    installing it

No problems pairing it to my echo show 10 3rd gen at all . It had to be connected to the Ring app first and then to the Alexa echo show .I already had the Ring app (I have the doorbell set) so it went without a hitch .

Work well, but a few things to keep in mind..

These bulbs work well, when integrated into your existing ring smart lighting infrastructure. The only things I’m not fond of, are the bulbs only light up on the top half. This leaves an area under the light unlit. The other thing I wish were different, is the color temp. These are too “white” for my taste. I prefer the color temperature of a standard incandescent bulb. Around 2700k would be ideal. These do not mesh well with other ring smart lights, simply due to the color difference. The other lights have a more natural color to them, and these being more white makes them stand out.

    Perfect replacement for dusk-to-dawn bulbs

I’ve been using a dusk-to-dawn lightbulb for my patio, however it attracted so many bugs, which then attracted all kinds of nasty spiders. So, I stopped using that light, but my patio was then far too dark and my Ring cameras had to use night vision, which resulted in a poorer picture. This Ring light bulb is the perfect solution, because it only turns on when motion is detected and therefore won’t attract any bugs, unlike the always on bulb I had before. I set it up in the Ring app to only turn on when my outdoor cameras detect motion during the night, which will only be a small fraction of the time and will therefore keep the bugs away while saving energy. All around this is a perfect little bulb for my needs, and it’s super bright. I like the 3500K color; it’s not warm (which would be odd for a patio light), yet it’s not overbearingly white and artificial. It’s a perfect balance between warm and stark white, and is plenty bright at 800 lumens (which is the brightness of a 60 watt equivalent LED bulb). It only uses 8.5 watts, so it will cost me literally a few cents per month to operate. It’s a no brainer, especially for those who are already entrenched in the Ring ecosystem. Note that you will need a Ring Bridge or a qualified Echo device to use this, but most Ring users looking at smart lights already have the Bridge, I’d imagine. In summary, it’s the perfect addition to your Ring ecosystem and works flawlessly with other Ring smart lighting and cameras (and can even be turned on when your alarm is in entry and exit delay mode). For the price it’s a great value. I’m very satisfied with my purchase.

    Awesome

I have several ring devices in my home, they make me feel very much protected. The wifi lights I had on my porch decided they would go out, the app that was used to set them up was removed and it was no way to reconnect them to the server, well out with the old and in with the new! I am very much happy with my purchase and will always choose Ring products when I can! Hopefully they will come out with color lights bulbs as well

    Works Great After Full Setup

This was a mostly quick and simple install. I used it for a lamp:I turned the lamp off and inserted this new bulb, then turned the lamp back on. Best to go through the Ring app first for setup. If you have an Alexa device and want to be able to verbally control the light, what the instructions might not tell you is that you need to enable the “Ring skill” in the Alexa app, link your Ring and Amazon accounts, and THEN it will let you finish setting it up through Alexa. Don’t through away the instruction booklet because it’s quicker to scan the QR code sticker attached to it when setting up.Overall it works like a normal bulb. Has some weight to it (probably for the smart capabilities).
