    Works great with echo spot

I only removed a star because this isn’t matter enabled, and I was forced to set up an app to connect it to my internet and THEN my new echo spot recognized it. Besides that this is WAY better than the buggy Sengled bulbs. I love the color options and having the echo spot motion detector turn it on automatically. The app has plenty of features such as sunrise wake up, away function, etc even without the echo. My favorite color is salmon.

The product is extremely hard ti get connected

Of you have a good wifi connection it’s really easy -have to download the TAPO app and I’m that app you can link that to ECho and Dot and smart plug raps everything together-you can do so many things with the led light settings -I have them in me bedroom =closet-were I also connected mini blink camera -yea at first it a little overwhelming bit if you watch a video first -otherwise it’s a great product The Smart way!!!!

    From Disappointed to Happy

I received 2 Tapo light bulbs. One came with EchoDot. It took some time to get set up but that’s probably just me. I have had them about a week now. They are great when working but now they keep going offline. The kitchen one I can eventually get going again but my hallway light I can’t get back online. Very disappointing and will not order another Tapo bulb.Edit: I gave this bulb a 2 star rating but changing to 5 star. My hallway light quit working and couldn’t get to work again. I sat down and just tried to figure out and found it somehow got to wrong wi-fi. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it and works again so I am happy.

    Works perfectly

My son really wanted a colored bulb in his room so he can have normal light and then go to red for bed time. The remote works perfectly but does pick up on the same frequency as other items. The bulb puts off a lot of light and is a good value for the price.

    Its okay

So out of all the bulds I’ve added to alexa I will say. This was the most difficult. The heat level is good it was left on by accident and there was little to no heat. Fits the socket very well. No delays once its paired properly. Bulb quality is really good

Best Bulb but not for me 🙁

This bulb is your amazing but It has a incompatibility with my energy circuit, mine is 220V but the bulb only supports 120V or less. I havve been trying it, THE COLORS ARE SO BEAUTIFUL, it can be used in the tapo app as a receptor, so it can be configured to turn on/off in any time, any color or any bright level when a tapo camera or tapo sensor send a message

    Pretty bright

I was pleasantly surprised about the brightness of the lightbulb since the ones that can change colors don’t tend to be as bright, this one is really nice and it respond quickly. The app is not great tho, and I can’t manage to get a very light pinkish light, I wish that was an option like it is with yellow

    Easy to setup

I bought 16 light to replace my Feit bulbs. The Feit bulbs kept losing connection to my WiFi, but would hold their settings. If you plan on setting a schedule but not changing the color or dimming these you will be fine. But if you want to change the color and dim these, you will have to reset every night because they always revert back to full power white. This defeats the whole purpose of the automation I bought these bulbs for. They need a way to save your settings. After finding a way to save the settings I am revising my review to 5 stars. I wish there were better instructions about how to save the settings, but I was finally able to figure out how to save the settings.

    Good smart bulbs

Overall a good multicolor smart bulb. They’re very bright at max brightness. Installation is easy with the Tapo app.I’ll dock half a star because it doesn’t support Adaptive Lighting in Homekit. Apparently that’s because adaptive lighting is a Homekit specific feature, and this only implements Matter (which is still 99% compatible with Homekit). Not a big deal and not technically Tapo’s fault, but would be nice to have that.Docking another half star for the colors. The range of colors it can produce isn’t great, and it’s not all that accurate. Still, for the price I can’t complain too much.

    4 pack bulbs

After reading reviews, I was pretty nervous about ordering these seems how some people made it seem like a lottery order with quite a few different complaints. That could still be the case. Several people mentioned black or white bottom bulbs, but I’m still not sure what that means, since I didn’t see anyone who mentioned them post a picture of the different kinds they were talking about. But in any case, when I ordered the 4 pack they were all the same, as pictured with box, and they all work. The exact model is KL130 for anyone who’s curious. I got the 4 pack because I was worried about getting mismatched versions, so I guess at least in my case that worked. I just ordered a second 4 pack to do the rest of my apartment, so if they wind up being different, I’ll come back and say so.I also read one review that said the bulbs were off and wouldn’t go in their sockets which gave me doubts as well, but they do, in fact, fit into a standard socket. I got 3 of my 4 pack into my overhead fan light (the standard kind with gold metal, ridged glass and brown wood blades you see in apartments everywhere), then tested the remainder out in my bathroom mirror 4-light strip (again, the cheap medicine cabinet kind you see in low rent apartments everywhere) and then again into my old-timey touch lamp and it worked in all of them, so unless you have exotic fixtures of some kind, you’re good to go. Also slightly surprised that they worked in my touch lamp, so if you were wondering about that, just touch to the highest light setting and you’re good to go.I was also kind of worried about how the setup would go since a few people said it was wonky, but not how and I didn’t see the actual process pop right up in the first few pages of reviews, so I’ll just include it here:1. Download the «Kasa Smart» app, create a login and verify your email.2. Put a light into your target fixture, turn it on to make sure it works, then turn it back off again.3. Hit the plus sign in the upper right hand corner of the app.4. Tap on the «Device» option5. Tap on the «Smart light» option6. Tap on the «Smart bulb KL100 series» option7. The first prompt says «First, make sure the power is off on the light you’re replacing. Swap the current bulb with the smart bulb», you’ve already done this, so tap «Next».8. The next prompt says «Power on the light, wait about 5 seconds until the smart bulb blinks 3 times». Do that and then hit next.9. It’ll connect and then ask you to sign into your wifi.10. You’ll get a prompt for your bulb to update, do that.11. Give the bulb a name.12. DoneOptional #1: If you want to put a cluster of bulbs into a group so they all change colors/dim simultaneously like I wanted to with my 3 fan lights, make sure you’ve set each bulb up separately, then hit the + sign in the upper right hand corner and tap «group». Then select the bulbs you want to put in a group and give it a name. The main interface page will show groups on top as well as each individual bulb below.Optional #2: Set up with your Alexa/Google/whatever. I jumped the gun on connecting Alexa before I added the bulbs and she announced each time one was installed that I could now control «TP underscore … blah blah blah» by talking to her. Kind of highlights the importance of the names if you’re going to be doing this because no way are you saying its given device name to control it. I mean, unless you’re into that kind of thing, no judgement, but not for me.Even though *I think* I got the model everyone was a bit displeased with, aside from putting in the wrong wifi password on the first attempt and having to delete and reinstall the app to fix it, setup was surprisingly easy and quick. Zero wonkiness actually wound up happening, so another win.In terms of brightness and color versatility, when it’s at it’s brightest in white, I can’t tell the difference between it and the intense spiral LED’s it replaced…which is to say they’re capable of being blinding if that’s what you need. For color versatility you legitimately get a whole color wheel to choose a color with and then the hardest part is really just picking one since all the colors look pretty cool. In an entirely dark room at night, the colors at full brightness somehow give a dimmed feel while still providing all the light you could want to look around with. As a dark mode everything person, it’s a strange surprise best of both worlds scenario I keep double checking when I think it’s actually dimmed by reading the book titles in perfect clarity across the room. The dimming feature is on a percentage wheel similar to a speedometer and is also pretty nice.Overall, I’m really happy with my purchase and that the reviews freaked me out for zero reason. If you get the 4 pack and/or the same version bulbs as I did, you should be all good :).

Good stuff but minor automation issue

I got these to replace an older Kasa smart bulb that burned out. These have more color options although I still only use them for regular white light. They are nice and bright and have a wide range of color temperature.I’m only controlling them with the Tapo app, not Alexa etc. or matter. The app is pretty easy to use. Setting up the bulb was easy, and so was configuring it. Adjusting the light color and brightness, creating a schedule etc. was also easy. I have the bulb turn on in the early evening and then switch it to dimmer and yellower later at night, before having it turn off completely at bedtime. There is one feature in the Tapo app that doesn’t work quite right… you can create automations to do things like change the light color or brightness when the bulb (or another device) turns on or off etc. So I made an automation that would make sure the bulb was dimmer and yellower if I turned it on late at night. The issue is, this automation works fine if I turn the bulb on using the app (which only works if the wall switch was already on), but it doesn’t work if I turn on the bulb with the wall switch. The difference is in the first case the bulb was online all along, but in the latter case it’s not online until a few seconds after it gets powered on by the wall switch. This makes smart bulbs a «special case» compared to things like smart plugs, cameras, etc. which are assumed to be online all the time whether they’re in use or not. The automation logic should be corrected to deal with this.

    Very Reliable

Very easy to set up with Homekit. Need to make sure that your wi-fi is switched to iPv6 to use Matter (usually a router (or mesh) app setting). No trouble setting up and have had no disconnect issues whatsover. Have been using for about 4 months. I’ve had a ton of trouble with Vocolinc bulbs and am slowly replacing those with Tapo Matter. Just last week, Vocolinc bulbs continually disconnected, but the Tapo ones did not. I also have the Tapo smart plugs, which are also fantastic. I do like the Tapo app – much better than the old Kasa version. I have always found TP-Link and Kasa devices quite reliable. I am now all in on Tapo.

Works just like any other quality made smart bulb!

I have a couple of smart bulbs of different brands in my house, all work great and this TP-Link one isn’t an exception. It works great, dimmable, has millions of different color combinations and installs just like any other regular bulb. It honestly deserves its 5 stars but I deducted one for only one reason – my different brand bulbs did not require any side apps to be installed in order to work with Alexa. This one does. I was actually a little surprised when it asked me to install an extra app since my past experience was a bit different- as soon as all of my previous bulbs were installed Alexa momentarily found them and was ready to work as is. Here I needed to install an extra app and add a skill to my Alexa app. Nothing complicated but still a bit time consuming. Most likely the manufacturer is creating or created its own ecosystem and that’s the reason they want their own app. So it’s fine and it still works perfectly fine after their requirements are met and the bulb can be controlled from both apps now – Alexa and TP-Link, or just by voice from any Alexa device. Overall it’s a perfect bulb and serves outside as a Halloween light today waiting for a next Holiday lol. By the way of course it is also great to use it just like a regular lightbulb and that’s how it will be right between holidays. I would definitely recommend this product. Hope someone will find my review helpful.

A great light for the price

I’ve committed myself to KASA products. I already have Hue. The thing is when you get lights you’re typically downloading an app and using it for the light. I have Hue and have been using them for a decade now and I do enjoy it. No issues whatsoever and they’re bright. BUT, They’re expensive. Few years ago I started buying KASA branded items really without thinking about. Just happened to be on sale when I needed certain products at the time such as their plug-ins. I also saw govee lights on sale but I had already been buying KASA I didn’t want to dl another app and have all these apps selecting back and forth so I stuck with this brand and so far I’ve been extremely happy, fortunately. Hue is the only one works with my iPhone Siri and Alexa devices. I wish others were because Home is quite easy to use on iOS. However, Alexa works excellent with this light I purchased as well as the long strips. My mom has no problems using the Echo devices to activate the lights. And this light, as I mentioned, is bright. I’m glad I can change light color or dim it in the restroom when I’m brushing my teeth and quick shaving when I don’t need a full blast light. The app it uses works flawlessly, never once had an issue connecting any lights. The only issue I’ve had is after installing this light I bought another strip, and now the app will sometimes get stuck specifically with the strip. Actually only with the strip, so it doesn’t affect my score for this light as it’s been great. And it will change color scene then get stuck. I read a review about Alexa resetting settings after turning off the light but I have yet to fortunately come across said issue. I can turn off the lights, unplug them, whatever it may be and afterwards plugging them back in or turning on switch will still work with Alexa. It’ll take about a second or two for the light to pick up Wi-Fi (as with any device) before the echo can change color or light brightness but it’s been perfect. All in all, I will continuously buy KASA light or device when I need one. I have a gaming light connected to their plug in and along with Alexa created a group with it, the KASA color strip, and a hue light to create a room and it all works together seamlessly. Their app is quick. The price has been cheap and the lights are very bright that I stopped buying Hue color lights. Can’t recommend enough.Highly recommended!

Once Matter works, it works great

Once it was connected and named, it was «the way it’s supposed to be» (said in my grumpy old man voice). When I turn it on/off from my phone, it’s got maybe a 1sec or less delay compared to my wifi bulbs or old z-wave, which would only be that fast when the stars were aligned. Voice control is pretty much what you would expect in that it takes longer for the voice command than it does to turn on the light.I had to leave my phone and walk away because the native Google Home Matter connection took minutes (this is normal for my testing of Matter devices with Google Home).

    Awesome lights

I’ve been looking for color changing lights for my carriage lights outside my garage door and these are perfect. Set up was easy. Just had to download the associated app. I love how you can use default colors or create your own color depending on what hue you want. You can also set them to turn on and off automatically or you can do so manually using the app. Now I have to get one more for the front door and I’ll be set.

    Great Bulbs, Horrible Connectivity

I’ve been a fan of TP-Link products for many years. Their products are generally easy to set up and are overall great quality for the price. Even our home wireless mesh system is by this brand, and so obviously I trust them enough to provide me with a stable wireless connection! (Obviously the most important thing in life!)But when it comes to these bulbs it’s a different story. I’ve installed a lot of smart bulbs around the house. Many are Philips Hue, but I don’t need such expensive bulbs for everything. I just enjoy smart bulbs not only for their aesthetic, but for the automation. I’ve tried several smart bulbs in the lower price range, and Kasa bulbs are by far the best of them. Not only is the color better, they’re brighter too. And their app allows for many of the same features that Hue also has. Such as the ability to create custom color schemes and even have those schemes turn on at a certain time. The automation offered with these bulbs is far better than what you’ll get with other bulbs in this price range. But that is where the praise for these bulbs end and my frustration begins. My biggest peeve with these bulbs is that they CONSTANTLY drop off the wireless network. When that happens there’s no ability to turn them on or off with the app. I’ve attached a photo to this review showing some of the lights I have set up, and you can see that two of them are grayed out. Although all the bulbs are on the same network, those two somehow dropped off. And it’s completely random too. Eventually they find their way back on the network, but there’s no telling when or even why. The only positive (if you can call it that) is that if the grayed out light was programmed to turn on and off at a certain time, it will still operate in that way. I don’t know how, since it shouldn’t, but it does. Because of this bizarre reality, I’ve found it’s best to initially set up the lights how you want them permanently, and set up a daily timer, since that doesn’t seem to be affected even if the bulbs drop off the network. But obviously I would prefer to control them independently when I choose. The last thing that bugs me is the scheme automation. For example, I have a three-bulb lamp in my home gym using these bulbs. I created an «evening» color scheme, and a «night» scheme. I set up an automation schedule in the app so that the «evening» scheme would turn on at a certain time. But instead of that scheme turning on, the «night» scheme turned on instead. Even weirder, only two of the three bulbs even turned on with the other not turning on at all. I tried all sorts of things to try and resolve that issue, but nothing worked. It essentially makes the automation scheduling feature useless if it doesn’t perform the action you told it to. This may not be a feature everyone will care about, but it certainly was one of the main reasons I was excited about these bulbs. So overall the bulbs are great in terms of the color selection and brightness, but the unreliable connection to the network is a big sore spot for me. This never happens with their smart plugs (that I also use), ONLY with these bulbs. It happened both on my old wireless setup, and the new wireless mesh set up using THEIR brand! So I’m not sure what the deal is. And the flawed automation is another disappointment. For these reasons I have stopped purchasing these bulbs altogether. I still love TP-Link products, and these bulbs ARE the best in this price range, but the unstable connectivity and automation have made them such a hassle for me. I don’t want to pay 3x more for a Hue bulb, but at least they work consistently.

    So far it’s working great

I was given a recommendation for this smart light by someone else who is blind and teaches technology. This bulb that I got in particular is the matter certified one because it works with Alexa, Google Home and Apple. What I mainly wanted it for is so that it would turn on after sunset so it wouldn’t be dark in my house. At least I know they’ll be light And it goes off in the day so I don’t have to remember if I turned it on or off. I did have a little bit of trouble connecting it, but I searched on Google and found an exclamation for how to do it and got it working! I got this as a black Friday deal from Amazon however I might have gotten it anyway because of the recommendation if it wasn’t a black Friday deal, but that sure helped make my decision!

Works with Apple on Orbi wifi

Having tried and returned a set of Meross lamps I was pleased to find the TP-link alternatives. They are very easy to setup using the native app to get full features, but also with Apple HomeKit which is what I really wanted. Meross failed to configure using my Orbi multi-band WiFi as it wanted 2.4Ghz only. The result was hit and miss in different locations. TP-link seems to have figured this by using Bluetooth for the initial install and then the wonders of Matter to allow it to work in the Apple world. Works a treat for now. I’ve not yet explored all the feature in the app but regardless Apple Home delivers all that I need. My only gripe was the failure to print the Matter QR on the lamp itself – instead there were a couple of QR stickers in the box that I had to discover to do the Apple setup easily.

    Good But Not Bright

Installation was a little bit of a hassle getting connected to Alexa. But after that worked fine. Deducting a star because it’s just not bright enough even on its highest setting for such a big light bulb.

    Great idea

I love that they can connect to Alexa but they blink when you turn them on. Gives me headaches but I also am epileptic so I have to be careful with that. I love the idea and the fact my Alexa can turn them on and off. I bought 5 of these so I definitely get a lot of lighting in my house.

    Fun and easy

Power it on and tell alexa to find my device and she does the lifting. The app will let you set the color manually or you can just tell alexa to change the color… set the name… group it with out stuff. I’m just now playing with the routine possibilities.

I have way too much fun with this thing.

The schedule feature is so neat and pairing with Amazon device opens a whole new realm of possibilities for this little light bulb. I use the term “Lumos” and “Nox” to turn it on and off (Haven’t outgrown the Harry Potter phase 😅)I scheduled a specific color for certain times of the night and a schedule for automatic shut off when I’m fast asleep. The app is easy to use and you can even assign a name to your lamp/light fixture! 10/10!

    Slightly Difficult Setup

The setup was difficult, and I wouldn’t want to do it again. The bulb is fine. It does the job. Being able to change colors is good when you want a different light setting. A good deal for the price, which was free with the purchase of an Echo Show.

Better than I expected – great for waking up

The setup is straight forward. Choosing colors and brightness from the app is kinda fun.Best part is the sunrise wake up. The app allows for different colors and different brightnesses to be programmed to come on at defined times. From what I can tell, no need to use an Amazon or other controller – just the app.

Good Matter support, but weak brightness unless set to ~2700K

I use Apple Home for automation and have a home hub. These Matter-certified bulbs work well with Apple Home and paired instantly in the Home app just by scanning the QR code. So far, on the first day of use, they appear to be totally reliable with Apple Home and work well. The setup was ultra smooth and easy, like all other Matter-certified devices I’ve added to Apple Home. There are a few cons, though:1. The brightness of the bulbs is pretty weak for a 75W-equivalent bulb. At ~2700K, they are at their brightest and somewhere between 60W and 75W. However, when switching to a daylight temperature like 4000K-5000K they are a good bit dimmer… definitely not over 60W-equivalent, possibly less. And for raw colors, they are drastically dimmer, but colors are just a nighttime gimmick anyways and I don’t care about that; I only want to adjust color temperature throughout the day. My big issue is that the daylight temperatures feel dim.2. Some white-range colors are way off with the Apple Home app. Certain near-daylight colors are rendered by the bulb as bright orange, while other smart lights I have render them correctly. It’s not a total dealbreaker as I just adjusted the color swatch to something the bulb can handle, but I was surprised by this.3. For some reason, the Matter QR code is not printed directly on the bulb base, just the ID number. There are QR code stickers included in the box, but this really should have been printed on the bulb itself. I will probably lose track of these stickers in the future, and it will be more complicated trying to re-pair them then, since the Apple Home app wants to scan a QR code.Seems like a good budget bulb that’s reliable, but I’m still on the fence about returning these and just paying up for the Hue bulbs. Overall, my main complaint is the brightness level at daylight temperatures.

Loving that they turn on and off on a schedule.

Loving that they turn on and off on a schedule at wakeup and bedtime. I will definitely buy more for the basement. They really don’t seem to be 1100 Lumens though but as I have no instruments to actually measure lumens, I could be wrong. They sort of don’t even seem to be 800 lumens from the cheap off brand bulbs I bought elsewhere. I tried all the light color temperatures, and it seemed to me the highest light output kicked in at 2700K so that’s what I use all of them at. 2700K was the color temperature of most incandescent bulbs before LED bulbs started becoming the standard about 8 years ago.

    Switching on/off manually

I love the bulb, HOWEVER, once installed, you can no longer control the light by using the light switch. You have to turn the light on and off using the app. This might be a big deal, or no deal at all, depends on your circumstances. The bulb works as advertised, I’ve had no problems at all, just be aware of my opening statement, this could be a game changer.

Weird green cast, annoying setup, lacks automation

I have always been particular about lights, using the GE “Reveal” incandescent back in the day, then “daylight” LED bulbs. I have worked in design and select colors carefully and am aware that soft white bulbs really throw off color perception. But I’ve become more aware that having soft white light in the evening makes it easier to sleep compared to daylight bulbs.I thought it was promising that these have such a wide range especially in white light, and mostly what I was after was setting them to automatically move over to warm, dimmed light a few hours before bedtime. But the app really doesn’t actually allow for this specific automation of changing color temp at a certain time; it’s all about on/off. The bulbs were also difficult to set up and I’m quite tech savvy. But the real deal breaker is the odd green cast. When set at 5000k everything appears much more green than the 5000k bulbs I just removed. And then on 2500k it’s way more orange than a 2500k LED bulb. There is no setting that approximates a “daylight” bulb: my room that has white paint with a touch of the flooring color mixed into it plus some medium yellows and blues in the decor looks dingy no matter which color temp I select.A lot of people probably won’t notice this, but if you’re visually sensitive like me or you’ve chosen daylight bulbs for color quality, these probably aren’t for you. Also the automation is definitely lacking and overly complicated to set up.But they’re cheap if you get the right deals and coupons. I’ll move these along to a teenager in the extended family who may find the wild colors more fun.

    Very Reliable

I’ve had other WiFi bulbs that screw up whenever there’s a power outage. That happens a lot where I live and I got tired of rebooting everything. These Tapo’s work great and never have that problem. Convenience must include reliability, these pass the test.

    Great bulb and outlets

I got a free bulb when I got my Echo’s. Not knowing anything about them it was 2 different bulbs. Didn’t know you needed a different app for every different bulb and outlet. So deicide on a manufacture and stick to it. Didn’t realize this till I shopped by price only. Thank goodness for Amazon.. This is one of the better ones.

    This lightbulb is terrific!

I didn’t think I’d really have a need for one of these but now that I gave it a try I plan on buying more! I just love being able to activate it with just my voice thru my amazon show or my amazon echo dot or even when I’m away thru the Alexa app to make sure the light it on when I walk thru the door. It’s so easy to change the color to any color you can think of. It’s a really good price for what you get. I highly recommend this Tapo light bulb!

Fun Smart Light – White Light not Bright enough for everyday lighting

Not as bright as other 800 Lumen Bulbs. TP-Link has two different smart product lines (Tapo and Kasa), I would suggest staying in one or the other. Buy this for RGB Lighting but not general lighting use.
